How to Take Part in the NEET UG 2026 Stray Vacancy Round
The stray vacancy round is MCC’s last online round for seats still vacant after Round 3. Candidates who joined a Round 3 All India Quota, deemed or central university seat cannot take part, and anyone allotted a state quota seat is removed from the list.
- Register and pay on mcc.nic.in (UG Medical Counselling) between 12 and 14 October 2026. Registration closes at 3:00 PM and payment at 6:00 PM on 14 October.
- Fill your college and course choices from 12 October to 10:00 AM on 15 October 2026.
- Lock your choices; locking opens at 4:00 PM on 14 October.
- Check the stray vacancy round result on 17 October 2026.
- Report to the allotted college with original documents between 19 and 26 October 2026.
What is the MCC NEET UG 2026 counselling schedule?
MCC ran Round 1 from 4 to 21 August 2026, later than usual because the result came only on 16 July after the re-exam.

Which seats does MCC fill and which do states fill?
MCC fills the central and All India seats; every other government and private seat is filled by state counselling.

What are the MCC NEET UG counselling fees?
You pay a non-refundable registration fee and a refundable security deposit when you register. If you opt for both government and deemed seats, you pay only the higher amount.

The deposit is refunded only to the account it was paid from. It is forfeited if you are allotted a seat and do not join.
What do freeze and float mean in MCC counselling?
After a seat is allotted in Round 1 or 2, you choose whether to keep it or try for a better one. Upgradation is available up to Round 3.
- Freeze: you are happy with the seat. You join the college in person and do not take part in the next round.
- Float: you want an upgrade. You confirm online and stay in the next round; if you are upgraded, your earlier seat is released.
- After you join a Round 3 seat, you cannot resign and cannot take part in any further counselling.
What documents do you need to join the allotted college?
Carry the originals and attested photocopies of these documents when you report.
- MCC allotment letter
- NEET UG admit card and result or rank letter
- Class 10 certificate (and birth certificate if Class 10 does not show date of birth)
- Class 12 certificate and marks sheet
- Eight passport-size photographs, the same as in the application
- Photo ID: Aadhaar, PAN, driving licence or passport
- Category certificate (SC, ST, OBC-NCL or EWS) and MCC disability certificate, if applicable
When will NEET UG counselling 2027 start?
