The IICD Entrance Exam 2027 is the admission test of the Indian Institute of Crafts and Design (IICD), Jaipur, for B.Des, M.Des and the PG Diploma in Design Foundation in 2027-28. Registration is open from 12 October 2026 to 31 March 2027. It is a take-home paper, due by 20 April 2027, followed by an online interview.

IICD Entrance Exam 2027 Important Dates
IICD has published a proposed timeline for admission 2027-28: the form is open till 31 March 2027, the admit card-cum-question paper is due on 10 April 2027 and the result on 17 May 2027.

How to Apply for IICD Entrance Exam 2027
You apply online only, on the IICD Admission Portal, between 12 October 2026 and 31 March 2027. Choose your course and specialisation in the form itself, because the entrance test is set after you register.
Apply Online for IICD 2027
Applications for IICD 2027 are open: 12 October 2026 to 31 March 2027.
- Open the IICD Admission Portal and click New Registration.
- Enter your personal details, choose the course (B.Des, M.Des or PG Diploma) and your preferred specialisation.
- Upload your photo, signature and Aadhaar card (front and back), plus the documents your course needs (see the list below).
- Pay the application fee online. After a successful payment you get a confirmation email with the payment reference ID.
- If the payment email does not arrive, write to [email protected] with your bank statement or card transaction proof.
- To finish a saved form later, use Resume Registration on the portal. You log in with your registered email ID and password.

- B.Des: photo, signature, Aadhaar card and, if applicable, the artisan card of a parent (issued by the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts)).
- M.Des: photo, signature, Aadhaar card and the last-semester marksheet of your UG design course.
- PG Diploma: photo, signature and Aadhaar card.
- Photo and documents in JPG/JPEG of 100 to 200 KB (photo on a plain white background, about 360 x 450 pixels); signature in blue or black ink, 20 to 50 KB.
- NRI, SAARC and foreign applicants upload a passport as ID and address proof, and a valid IELTS or TOEFL score.
If your documents are not in the accepted format, IICD emails you to resend them before the form is processed.
Who can apply for IICD 2027 admission?
Eligibility depends on the programme. These rules and seats are from the IICD Admission Guidelines 2027.

Candidates still appearing in the qualifying exam get provisional admission and must show eligibility within 90 days of the course starting. IICD may change the seats in each specialisation.
B.Des and M.Des are offered in seven specialisations: Hard Material Design, Soft Material Design, Fired Material Design, Fashion Clothing Design, Jewellery Design, Craft Communication and Interior Design. For B.Des, the final specialisation is decided by a committee on your foundation-year performance and aptitude.
Reservation follows UGC norms: 27% OBC, 15% ST, 7.5% SC and 3% PH. Reserved seats left unfilled go to the General category.
What is the IICD Entrance Exam 2027 pattern?
There is no exam centre. You download an admit card-cum-question paper from the portal (proposed for 10 April 2027), prepare your responses at home and submit them online by 20 April 2027. Shortlisted candidates then face a personal interview.

The same test applies to all programmes. IICD has not stated total marks or a time limit; the exact tasks are printed on the question paper. The older two-paper written and material test is no longer used. You can see the current style in the official IICD sample papers.
How does the IICD personal interview work?
The interview is held online on WhatsApp video call from 1 May 2027 onwards and lasts about 20 minutes. The date and time are given on your admit card, and the IICD examiner team calls your registered WhatsApp number.
- Keep the artwork or portfolio you submitted with you during the call.
- The panel looks at your aptitude for crafts, general intelligence, communication, awareness of crafts and design, and your achievements in academics and co-curricular activities.
- Your portfolio can be anything you made yourself: sketches, paintings, embroidery, photographs, material work or creative writing.

How will the IICD 2027 result and admission work?
IICD plans to declare results and provisional admission on 17 May 2027. Selected candidates download an admission letter from the IICD Admission Portal; it gives the fees, payment method and hostel details.
- Log in to the IICD Admission Portal with your registered email ID and password and open Download Result.
- Download the admission letter if you are selected.
- Pay the fee between 21 May and 5 June 2027 (proposed).
- Follow the email that lists the documents to submit and the course start date. The session is expected to begin in the last week of July 2027.
The admission offer is valid only for the 2027-28 session. The Admission Committee may offer you a different programme from the one you applied for; you can accept or decline it. IICD has not published cut-off marks.
