IICD sample papers are free official PDFs from the Indian Institute of Crafts and Design, Jaipur. The 2024 UG and PG papers show the current take-home format: a statement of purpose, an essay, creative tasks and a portfolio. Older 2015 to 2019 papers show the earlier written and material tests.

Older IICD Question Papers (2015 to 2019)
Before the take-home test, IICD held a written General Awareness, Creativity and Perception paper and a hands-on Material, Colour and Conceptual Ability paper. These papers still help with general awareness and creative thinking. The 2018 papers were set for the B.Voc and M.Voc programmes IICD ran then.

What does the IICD sample paper ask?
The 2024 papers are one page each, with five tasks worth 100 marks in total. You answer at home and submit your work online.

For 2027, the Admission Guidelines weight the test as SOP 15%, photo essay 25%, crafts and design awareness 20%, portfolio 20% and interview 20%. Expect a photo essay task in addition to the SOP and portfolio. See the IICD Entrance Exam 2027 page for dates and eligibility.
How should you use the IICD sample papers?
- Write a full SOP of 250 to 350 words for the programme you want, and ask a teacher to read it.
- Practise a 500-word essay on one topic from the 2024 paper within a set time.
- Make a short photo essay on a craft, place or object around you, with a caption for each photo.
- Build your portfolio of 10 to 15 original works and write 50 to 100 words on each.
- Read about Indian crafts and craft clusters, so you can talk about them in the 20-minute interview.
