IICD Admission 2018 – The Indian Institute of Crafts & Design (IICD) has published the admission guidelines for admission to various UG and PG Professional Diploma Programme for the academic session 2018 – 19. However, the dates have not yet been specified but it is expected that the key dates for admission will be released in the month of December. IICD Admission 2018 Eligibility Criteria

For B. Des. in Crafts & Design Programme

  • Should have completed 10+2 from a recognized board of education.
  • Students who will be appearing in the qualifying examination are also eligible to apply.

For M. Des. in Crafts & Design Programme

  • Should have completed Graduation in any discipline with an aptitude towards craft, fashion or design.
  • Students who will be appearing in the qualifying examination are also eligible to apply.

Note: Candidates who will be appearing for their qualifying examinations can also apply but their admission will be purely provisional and subject to obtaining the defined eligibility latest by 31st October 2018. In case the candidate fails to submit the defined eligibility certificates by due date, they will not be able to continue their studies at Indian Institute of Crafts & Design. In such cases, the semester tuition fee will not be refunded, however, the admission will be valid for the next year with the new semester fees provided the defined eligibility is obtained.

IICD 2017 Application Form

For IICD entrance exam 2018 candidates will first need to register and then fill the IICD application form in the online mode. The registration and application have to be filled up online at iicd.ac.in/registration-for-entrance-test 2018-19. The IICD entrance exam application form includes sections such as a candidate’s personal details, education details, and address. The applications have to be submitted on or before the due date.

Admission Criteria for Foreign Nationals/ NRI Category

  • The Foreign Nationals / NRI aspirants who wish to take admission to IICD must have required qualifications similar or equivalent to that required for the Indian Candidates.
  • The candidate must go through the process of IICD entrance exam
  • In case the candidate is unable to travel to one of the centers in India, then they are required to send the following: –
  1. Portfolio or work samples, at [email protected]
  2. The candidate will have to appear for a skype interview. The date of which will be intimated tot he candidate.
  3. The medium of instruction at IICD is English and all aspirants applying to IICD are expected to possess a working knowledge of the English language.

Note: The candidates who will be selected under this category would need to obtain a valid residential permit or student visa for the prescribed duration of the program and/or any other condition required as per the law of land (Government of India).

IICD 2017 Admit Card

The IICD admit card will be emailed to the candidates on their registered email IDs. It is important that candidates should bring the printout of the admit card to the IICD exam center as it is a mandatory document to be carried. Examinees need to paste a self-attested recent passport size photographs on the IICD Admit Card. Along with the IICD entrance exam 2018 admit card, candidates also need to bring a self-attested recent passport size photo pasted on the admit card. In addition, candidates also need to carry an original photo ID proof to the IICD entrance exam center.

IICD Exam Pattern

The IICD entrance exam 2018 will be divided into three sections – two written tests and one personal interview round. IICD admissions 2018 will be done on the basis of a candidate’s score in the written exams and performance in the interview round.

The weightage for each section of IICD exam is mentioned in the table below:

IICD Exam Syllabus

  1. General Awareness, Creativity & Perception Test: The test is designed to judge the abilities such as estimation of sizes and proportion, observation, synthesis and visual interpretation and general awareness.
  2. Material, Color & Conceptual Test: This section will test the following abilities of the candidates:
    a. Intelligent use of materials, conceptualize and realize a 3-dimensional form, skill of handling material.
    b. To observe, think and expand ideas, create a solution based on a plan and strategy.
    c. Ability to provide multiple solutions to the given problem with written description.

Note: Material required for Material, Color & Conceptual Test: The examinees must bring pens, pencils (2B, 4B & 6B), scissor, scale, cello tape, paper cutter, fevistick, eraser, color pencils/dry pastels/water color etc.

3. Personal Interview Round: In the Pi round, the individual personality of the prospective candidates in the following will be judged:
• Aptitude to crafts
• Intelligence quotient (IQ)
• Communication Ability
• General Awareness about Crafts & Design
• Overall Personal Achievements in academics and co-curricular activities.

Portfolio – It is advisable for candidates to bring some examples of your creative work to show the interview panel. This would help them to understand your capabilities. It could be anything that you would have done either sketching, painting, embroidery, photography, worked with the material or written anything creative.

IICD 2018 Selection Procedure

B. Des. in Crafts & Design Programme/ M. Des. in Crafts & Design Programme recognized by CUR

The Selection of the candidates to each of the specialization will be on the basis of their performance in the foundation year and the attitude shown. The decision of selection will be taken by a jury/ committee duly constituted by IICD.

Weightage of the Tests/Interview as follows:

General Awareness, Creativity & Perception Test 35%
Material, Color & Conceptual Test 45%
Personal Interview 20%

IICD 2018 Result

The result for IICD 2018 entrance test will be uploaded on the institute’s official website. The institute will publish a list of selected candidates. All selected candidates will get an intimation of their selection through an Admission Letter, which will be sent through email. Details regarding the payment of fees at the time of admission, allotment of Hostel and date, time and venue of commencement of the academic session will be
mentioned in the admission letter. The Indian Institute of Crafts & Design will also publish a wait list on its official website.

Reservation of Seats and Seats Intake 

25% of seats are reserved for students who are domiciled residents of Rajasthan.
