JENPAS UG Syllabus 2026 – Paper-I & Paper-II Topics, Exam Pattern (PDF)

The JENPAS UG Syllabus 2026 has been released by WBJEEB in the Information Bulletin available at wbjeeb.nic.in. Candidates appearing in the Joint Entrance Test for Nursing, Paramedical and Allied Sciences Undergraduate Courses – officially JENPAS(UG)-2026 – on 07 June 2026 should refer to the prescribed topics for Paper-I or Paper-II to prepare effectively. Moreover, Paper-I is based on 11th and 12th standard syllabi of recognised Boards/Councils, while Paper-II is based on 10th and 12th standard content. Therefore, aspirants must complete every chapter listed and practise previous year question papers along with mock tests to score well in the 90-minute OMR exam. What is the JENPAS UG Syllabus?

The syllabus is the official list of topics from which the question papers are set. Furthermore, Paper-I covers Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Basic English, and Health Aptitude (for all courses except BHA), while Paper-II covers Physical Science, Mathematics, General Knowledge, Basic English, and Logical Reasoning (for BHA only). Each paper has 100 multiple-choice questions worth 115 marks total in 90 minutes.

Before going through the chapter list, candidates should understand the exam pattern. In addition, this helps in planning preparation according to weightage. The structure for the offline OMR-based test is summarised below:

Paper-II Subject-wise Distribution

Paper-II is taken only by BHA candidates. Furthermore, Physical Science and Mathematics are based on the 10th standard syllabus of WBBSE and equivalent Boards, while GK, Basic English, and Logical Reasoning are at the 12th standard level.

Paper-I Syllabus Topics

  • Physics: Units & Measurements, Kinematics, Laws of Motion, Work-Energy-Power, Gravitation, Properties of Matter, Thermodynamics, Oscillations & Waves, Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Magnetism, EMI, EM Waves, Optics, Modern Physics, Semiconductors.
  • Chemistry: Atomic Structure, Chemical Bonding, States of Matter, Thermodynamics, Equilibrium, Redox Reactions, Periodicity, s/p/d-block Elements, Coordination Compounds, Organic Chemistry (Hydrocarbons, Alcohols, Aldehydes, Carboxylic Acids, Amines, Biomolecules, Polymers), Environmental Chemistry.
  • Biology: Diversity of Living Organisms, Cell Structure & Function, Plant Physiology, Human Physiology, Reproduction, Genetics & Evolution, Biology & Human Welfare, Biotechnology, Ecology & Environment.
  • Basic English: Reading Comprehension, Grammar (Tenses, Articles, Prepositions, Voice, Speech), Vocabulary, Sentence Correction, Synonyms/Antonyms, Idioms & Phrases.
  • Health Aptitude: Basic health awareness, healthcare systems in India, public health concepts, common diseases and prevention, hospital and nursing scenarios, ethics in healthcare, communication skills in patient care. (Detailed syllabus published separately by WBJEEB on 22 Apr 2026.)

Paper-II Syllabus Topics

  • Physical Science (Class 10 level): Concerning the Universe, Behaviour of Gases, Chemical Calculations, Thermal Phenomena, Light, Current Electricity, Electromagnetism, Atomic Nucleus, Periodic Table, Ionic and Covalent Bonding, Inorganic Chemistry in the Laboratory and Industry, Metallurgy, Organic Chemistry.
  • Mathematics (Class 10 level): Real Numbers, Polynomials, Linear Equations, Quadratic Equations, Arithmetic Progression, Triangles, Coordinate Geometry, Trigonometry, Circles, Areas and Volumes, Statistics, Probability.
  • General Knowledge: Current Affairs (national & international), History, Geography, Indian Polity, Economy, Science & Technology, Sports, Awards & Honours, Books & Authors.
  • Basic English: Grammar, Vocabulary, Comprehension, Sentence Correction, Synonyms/Antonyms, One-word Substitution.
  • Logical Reasoning: Verbal Reasoning, Non-verbal Reasoning, Series, Analogy, Coding-Decoding, Blood Relations, Direction Sense, Syllogism, Statement-Conclusion.

Preparation Tips

  • Go through the complete Information Bulletin to understand every topic listed under Paper-I and Paper-II.
  • Prepare topic-wise study plan giving equal weightage to Physics, Chemistry, Biology since each carries 25 marks in Paper-I.
  • Use NCERT textbooks for class 11 and 12 (PCB) as the base reference for Paper-I.
  • For Health Aptitude, refer to the separate syllabus PDF released by WBJEEB on 22 April 2026.
  • Solve previous year question papers to understand the type and level of questions.
  • Take regular mock tests to manage the 90-minute time limit and improve OMR accuracy.
  • Practise Category-2 (multiple correct options) questions carefully since partial credit is awarded.
  • Revise short notes regularly in the last fortnight before the exam.

Where can I download the JENPAS UG Syllabus 2026?

The official syllabus is available in the Information Bulletin published by WBJEEB at wbjeeb.nic.in/jenpas-ug. Candidates can also download the bulletin directly from the link provided on this page free of cost. The Health Aptitude syllabus is published separately.

What is covered in Paper-I and Paper-II?

Paper-I (for all courses except BHA) covers Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Basic English, and Health Aptitude based on 11th and 12th standard syllabi. Paper-II (for BHA only) covers Physical Science and Mathematics (10th standard), and General Knowledge, Basic English, and Logical Reasoning (12th standard).

What is the marking scheme?

Each paper has 100 MCQs for 115 marks: 85 Category-1 questions (+1 correct, -1/4 wrong, 0 unattempted) and 15 Category-2 questions (+2 if all correct options marked, 0 if any wrong; partial credit possible).

In which languages will the questions be set?

Questions will be set in both English and Bengali, except for Basic English, Logical Reasoning, and General Knowledge, which will be in English only. Candidates can attempt the bilingual questions in either language.

Is the syllabus same as the previous year?

The Board generally retains the same chapter list year-on-year, with only minor changes if any. Candidates are advised to refer to the latest Information Bulletin available on wbjeeb.nic.in/jenpas-ug for the authoritative chapter list. Health Aptitude syllabus was newly published on 22 April 2026.

Which books should I refer for preparation?

For Paper-I, NCERT textbooks of classes 11 and 12 for Physics, Chemistry, and Biology are the best starting point. WBCHSE textbooks and reference books such as HC Verma (Physics), NCERT plus OP Tandon (Chemistry), and Trueman/Pradeep (Biology) are widely used. For Paper-II, refer to class 10 WBBSE Physical Science and Mathematics textbooks plus standard GK and reasoning books.
