What does Legal Aptitude and Legal Reasoning cover?
This section tests your interest in law, your legal aptitude and your problem-solving ability. Each question gives a legal principle and a set of facts, and you apply the principle to the facts. Some principles may not be true in real law, but you must assume they are true and reach a well-supported conclusion.
The brochure does not list specific laws, so you do not need to study law in depth. Basic legal awareness still helps you read the principles quickly. Useful areas to revise:
- Basics of the Constitution: Preamble, Fundamental Rights, Directive Principles and Fundamental Duties
- Law of contract: offer, acceptance, consideration and free consent
- Law of torts: negligence, nuisance, trespass and defamation
- General principles of criminal law
- Common legal maxims and terms
- Landmark Supreme Court judgments
