Tamil Nadu ITI Admission 2027 is the online, merit-based admission to government-quota seats in Government and Private ITIs of Tamil Nadu, run by the Directorate of Employment and Training (DET). There is no entrance exam: seats are allotted on Class 8 or Class 10 marks through online counselling. Applications are expected to open in May 2027.

Is there an entrance exam for Tamil Nadu ITI admission 2027?
No. DET fills government-quota seats in Government ITIs and Private ITIs on merit. Separate merit lists are made on Class 8 and Class 10 marks, and seats are allotted through statewide online counselling based on your rank, the reservation rules and the ITIs and trades you choose.

The 2027 schedule is not announced yet. In 2026 the online form ran from 16 May to 3 June 2026 and the merit rank list came out on 9 June 2026, so the 2027 form is expected in May 2027 and classes in August 2027.

How to Apply for Tamil Nadu ITI Admission 2027
You apply online only, on the DET ITI admission portal. One application covers the government-quota seats of both Government and Private ITIs, and you pick your ITIs and trades in the same form.
Apply Online for TN ITI 2027
Applications for TN ITI 2027 are expected in May 2027.
- Open the DET ITI admission portal and click the ITI Admission 2027 link when it opens.
- Click New Registration. Enter your name exactly as in your mark sheet, verify your mobile number and email ID with OTPs, and create a password.
- Log in with your registered email ID and password.
- Fill in your personal and education details (Class 8 or Class 10 marks).
- Upload your photo and signature (JPG/PNG, 20 to 100 KB) and your Aadhaar card, community certificate and transfer certificate (PDF, 50 to 500 KB).
- Choose your ITIs and trades in order of preference with Add Choice, then preview the form.
- Pay the Rs 50 fee online and download the application PDF and fee receipt from your dashboard. A nodal ITI then verifies your application online.

Use your own mobile number and email ID, not those of a browsing centre. If you forget your password, click Forgot Password on the login page and enter your registered email ID to get a reset link. Applicants from other states need a migration certificate, and you should keep any priority-reservation certificate ready before you start.
Who can apply for Tamil Nadu ITI admission 2027?
You can apply if you have passed Class 8 or Class 10, as your chosen trade requires, and meet the age rule. These are the 2026 prospectus rules; the 2027 prospectus will confirm them.
- Qualification: Class 10 pass for the trades that require it; Class 8 pass for selected trades. The prospectus lists the qualification for each trade.
- Minimum age: 14 years.
- Upper age limit: 40 years for men, 45 years for ex-servicemen.
- No upper age limit for women, differently abled candidates and destitute widows.
How many ITIs, trades and seats are there in Tamil Nadu?
The DET admission portal lists more than 132 Government ITIs and 295 Private ITIs, with over 62,000 seats in 104 trades across 23 sectors.
Trades range from Fitter, Electrician, Welder, Machinist and Mechanic Motor Vehicle to newer courses such as Mechanic Electric Vehicle, Drone Pilot and Solar Technician (Electrical). Several Government ITIs also run Industry 4.0 trades. The full list of ITIs, trades and seats is in the prospectus.
How is the Tamil Nadu ITI 2027 merit list prepared?
Your rank depends on your Class 8 or Class 10 marks. DET makes separate merit lists for Class 8 and Class 10 qualified candidates, and seats are allotted on merit, reservation and your choices of ITI and trade.
After allotment you download a provisional allotment order from your login, pay the admission fee and report at the ITI with your original certificates. What are the fees and benefits at a Tamil Nadu Government ITI?
Government ITIs charge no tuition fee. You pay only small one-time and yearly charges at admission; private ITIs charge their own fees, given in the prospectus.
