TISS PIT / PI Format
The Pre-Interview Test (PIT) includes written test and personal interview (PI) is of 50 marks and the time alloted is for 45 minutes. Candidates can check the complete format for TISS PIT / PI for each campus by clicking on the image provided below.
Tips for TISS PIT and PI:
1. Be objective in answering the questions.
2. PIT is generally for 50 marks and includes essay writing and group discussion. It may vary from course to course.
3. Essay writing and GD are held together for a group of 8–9 people. The groups may have to write and discuss their essays.
4. You get 15 to 20 mins to complete the essay.
5. You must prepare topics like current affairs and linked to employment, social issues like health education secularism etc.
6. To prepare for PI make sure to have knowledge and understanding of economic survey, budget, women issues, employment issues, health, education, old age and generation gaps, disaster management, and human resource management.
7. To face the PI rounds be confident and presentable. Frame your answers strategically and answer honestly. Keep important documents handy.
What are the facility provided at TISS campus for PIT?
At the TISS campus during PIT and PI the following facilties are provided to the candidates:
- Dining Hall
- Coupons which can be purchased from the Cash Counter and the dining hall office, if applicants wish to have tea / lunch.
What are the facilties provided for SC / ST category candidates?
Candidates who belong to SC / ST category are offered the following facilities:
Reimbursement of travelling allowance – For the SC / ST candidates appearing for TISSNET or POYT / PI are reimbursed to-and-fro travel expenses (Second Class Railway or State Transport Bus fare).. Those who are unemployed, and their parent’s / guardian’s income was less than Rs. 2.5 lakh, during the Financial Year 2018–2019 and have submitted a certificate to this effect, and if they are residing outside TISS locations (Campuses) are offered the reimbursement.
To avail reimbursement amount, such candidates need to fill and submit T.A form along with photocopy of valid caste/tribe and income certificates, and Saving Bank Account Passbook, original tickets of the onward and return journey and Post/Courier to the Section Officer (SC/ST) & EO Cell, TISS, V.N. Purav Marg, Deonar, Mumbai 400088 within 15 days of PIT/PI date.
Reporting at the Institute for PIT and PI – SC / ST category candidates can appear at any one or two TISS Campuses only after receiving the call letter / mail for PIT and PI.
TISS Admission 2020 – Documents Verification
All candidates selected for admission have to report for document verification and join the programme as per the schedule. At the time of admission, candidates have to submit the mark sheets / grade sheets / certificates of the qualifying examination. The details to be kept in mind are:
- The candidates who have yet not recieved the marksheets / certificates of their final year have to submit them by September 30, 2020.
- The candidate selected for admission shall have to submit the attested photocopy of the qualifying examination.
- Mark sheet/ grade sheets/ certificates downloaded from the internet shall not be accepted at the time of admission.
TISS Admission Fee Refund Policy
The refund of the admission fee is done as per the criteria below:

TISSNET 2020 Merit List
Final admission of the candidates is done on the basis of merit in the exam. The final merit list is prepared on the basis of aggregate marks and preference submitted by the candidates in the application form.
The final merit list is prepared based on the below given weightage:
A: For the candidates appearing for TISSNET 2020

B: For the candidates appearing for TISSMAT along with TISSNET for admission in MA HRM&LR and MA ODCL

Note: TISS-MAT Score shall be used at the time of the Stage 2 of the admission process and thus it will be considered only for those who are shortlisted for Stage 2.
TISSNET 2020 Cutoff
To qualify TISSNET written examination, candidates need to score more than the minimum cut off marks. The cut off for TISSNET is as follows:

The score of TISSNET is only used for selecting candidates for stage 2 that is PIT and PI. However, score TISS MAT is added to PI marks for preparing the final merit list.
Compilation of TISSNET 2020 Result – Score and Merit List
The result of TISSNET is available in the below given formats:
A) TISS MAT / TISSNET 2020 scorecard: TISSNET 2020 score is prepared as per the marking scheme of the exam. For each correct answer, candidates get 1 marks. Since, there is no negative marking, marks are not deducted for incorrect answer.
B) TISSNET 2020 merit list: The final merit list of TISSNET is only prepared on the basis of performance in PIT and PI round. For merit list preparation, the score of PIT and PI are aggregated in the ratio of 70:30.
TISSMAT 2020 merit list: The final merit list of TISS MAT is prepared on the basis of marks in PIT, PI, and TISS MAT score, in the ratio of 30:40:30.

Types of TISSNET 2020 Merit List
There are the following types of merit list that are published for admission in TISS:
1. Open (Unreserved) Merit List (OML)
This merit list is prepared course wise. It is not category based and all the candidates who qualify PIT and PI round are given merit position in this list. It is prepared based on the following:
- The aggregate score of PIT and PI
- The candidate’s choice of programmes as given in the TISSNET 2020 application form
2. Category wise Merit List (CML)
Now the candidates who appear in the OML, are divided into CML. This CML is used for allotment of seats reserved for each category as per the Government of India / UGC norms.
TISSNET 2020 Tie-Breaking Criteria
Tie breaking is done at the time making the final merit list. Thus in case 2 or more candidates get the same score in any of the below-given situations and the corresponding tie breaking criteria applied:

TISSNET 2020 Waiting List

Preparation of waitlist: The waitlist is also prepared following the steps that is used to prepare the final merit list for admission.
If candidates get a seat as per first preference: All candidates who get admission based on their first preference are not placed in the waitlist.
If candidates get a seat in course of lower preference: The candidates who get a seat in the course of their lower preference, are also kept in the waiting list for their higher preferred course until the seats in that course is filled.
Moving from lower preference to waitlist of higher preference course: Candidates can move to waitlist of their higher preferred course, even if they have taken admission as per the first merit list. However, in such case candidates have to leave all claims of admission via the first merit list.
