CULET-UG 2027 (Calcutta University Law Entrance Test, Under Graduate) is the University of Calcutta’s computer-based test for the 5-year B.A. LL.B. and B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) course at its Department of Law and 13 affiliated law colleges. The 2027 dates are not announced; after the 2026 test on 27 August 2026, it is expected between August and October 2027.

CULET-UG 2027 Important Dates
The University of Calcutta has not announced the 2027 schedule. In 2026 it issued the notice on 14 July and held the test on 27 August, so the 2027 dates below are expected months only.

How to Apply for CULET-UG 2027
You apply online only, on the University of Calcutta admission portal, with one application for all 14 institutes. In 2026 the window ran from 15 to 31 July and reopened on 8 and 9 August 2026.
Apply Online for CULET-UG 2027
Applications for CULET-UG 2027 are expected in July 2027.
- Open the law admission page caluniv-ucsta.net/llb and read the admission notice and schedule.
- Register on the CU admission portal and note your user ID and password; you need them for the hall ticket, merit list claims and counselling.
- Fill in your personal, category and 10+2 marks details, including the best four subjects.
- Choose the institutes and courses you want (with Hons. or without Hons.) in your order of preference.
- Pay the application and entrance test fee online, and save the e-receipt and a copy of the form.

Set your preferences with care. The notice says the order may not be changed later, except in the short window after the draft merit list (8 September in 2026). Once you get a seat, your lower preferences close and only higher ones stay open for later rounds.
Who can apply for CULET-UG 2027?
You need to have passed 10+2 or an equivalent exam from a board recognised by the University of Calcutta. There is no age bar. You also need these marks in your best four subjects, leaving out compulsory Environmental Studies:

- Boards other than WBCHSE, ISC, CBSE, Rabindra Mukto Vidyalaya and NIOS need an equivalence certificate from the University of Calcutta (Equivalence Section, College Street). It is needed at admission, so get it early.
- Reservation follows West Bengal rules: SC 22%, ST 6%, OBC 7% and EWS 10% additional seats, with 5% horizontal reservation for PWD.
- Foreign nationals with a foreign board qualification apply in writing and may be called for an interview.
What is the CULET-UG 2027 exam pattern?
CULET-UG is one computer-based test of 100 multiple-choice questions for 100 marks in 2 hours. Each wrong answer costs a quarter mark, so guessing has a price.

Which colleges admit students through CULET-UG?
In 2026, 14 institutes took part. Four are the CU Department of Law and government-aided colleges; ten are self-financed colleges. Seats below are from the 2026 notice and seat matrix (base seats plus 10% EWS seats).

At Kolkata Police Law Institute, 80% of seats are reserved for wards of serving or former Kolkata Police and West Bengal Police staff. Fees differ by college; at the CU Department of Law the 2026 fee at admission was Rs 5,075, then Rs 2,020 per semester.
How are seats allotted after CULET-UG?
Seats are allotted by e-counselling, strictly in order of entrance test marks and your preferences. There is no interview for Indian applicants.
- The university publishes the entrance test result, then a draft merit list for claims and corrections, then the provisional merit list.
- The 1st selection lists are published category-wise and course-wise (with and without Hons.).
- Selected candidates upload documents as one PDF and pay the seat booking fee online: Rs 2,000 for CU and government-aided institutes, Rs 10,000 for self-financed colleges.
- The rest of the admission fee is paid to the college after it verifies your eligibility.
- Later selection lists come from mop-up rounds. You must register for each mop-up round separately; there is no fee for this.
