Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) 2026
What is FMGE?
The FMGE stands for Foreign Medical Graduate Examination, also called the NBEMS FMGE Screening Test. It is organised by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) and is a national-level screening examination. Under the provisions of the Screening Test Regulations, 2002, any Indian citizen or Overseas Citizen of India who holds a primary medical qualification awarded by a medical institution outside India must qualify FMGE to be eligible for provisional or permanent registration with the NMC or any State Medical Council. FMGE 2026 Application Form
The FMGE June 2026 application form was released on April 21, 2026 and the last date to apply was May 11, 2026. The registration window is now closed. Candidates who have already applied should now prepare for the exam using the FMGE syllabus and monitor the official site for the FMGE admit card. The application fee was ₹6,195 (₹5,250 + 18% GST). FMGE 2026 Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for FMGE 2026, candidates must meet the following criteria as prescribed by NBEMS under the Screening Test Regulations, 2002 (as amended):
- The candidate must be an Indian citizen or an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI).
- The candidate must hold a primary medical qualification from a medical institution outside India (i.e., an MBBS or equivalent foreign degree).
- The candidate must be desirous of getting provisional or permanent registration with NMC (National Medical Commission) or any State Medical Council in India.
- The foreign medical qualification must be recognised / listed / included in the World Directory of Medical Schools.
