The FMGE October 2026 syllabus is the NMC Competency Based Undergraduate Curriculum for MBBS. NBEMS publishes a blueprint in its bulletin: 100 of the 300 marks come from 7 pre and para clinical subjects and 200 from clinical subjects. Medicine (33), General Surgery (32), Obstetrics and Gynaecology (30) and Community Medicine (30) carry the most marks.

What is the FMGE syllabus?
The FMGE syllabus covers the subjects and knowledge areas of the Competency Based Undergraduate Curriculum that the National Medical Commission publishes for the MBBS course. There is no separate FMGE topic list.
What is the FMGE subject-wise marks distribution?
Marks are split by subject as per the official FMGE blueprint in the October 2026 bulletin. Pre and para clinical subjects carry 100 marks.

What is the FMGE October 2026 exam pattern and marking?
The 300 questions come in two parts of 150 on the same day, and every question carries 1 mark with no negative marking.

Questions marked for review are still evaluated. When a section’s time ends, the next section starts and you cannot return.

How should you prepare for FMGE?
Plan by marks: the four subjects with 30 or more marks add up to 125 of the 300 marks.
- Start with Medicine, General Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Community Medicine.
- Do not skip short subjects: Paediatrics, Ophthalmology and ENT carry 15 marks each.
- Revise Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry together; they carry 51 marks.
- Practise 150 MCQs in about 150 minutes, since each part has that pace.
- Attempt every question, as there is no negative marking.
