Why is there an FMGE in October 2026?
NBEMS now conducts FMGE three times a year instead of twice. The October 2026 bulletin says the June 2026 session was held on 28 June and the next screening test is on 31 October 2026. In its notice dated 28 August 2026, NBEMS moved the session earlier planned for 9 January 2027 to a later date in January/February 2027; the exact date is to be announced.
How to Apply for FMGE October 2026
You apply for FMGE online only, through the application link on the NBEMS FMGE page. The October 2026 form was open from 11 to 25 September 2026 and is now closed. If you missed it, apply for the next session, which NBEMS has rescheduled to January/February 2027; its dates are to be announced. The steps below follow the October 2026 bulletin.
Apply Online for FMGE October 2026
The FMGE October 2026 application window (11 to 25 September 2026) has closed. Next session (January/February 2027): dates to be announced.
- Read the information bulletin on the FMGE page of natboard.edu.in.
- Create a user with your full name as in your primary medical qualification certificate, email ID and mobile number. This gives you a User ID and password.
- Log in and fill the application form. Use a computer, not a mobile phone.
- Upload two photographs (one taken live by the webcam while filling the form), your signature and thumb impression.
- Upload your primary medical qualification certificate with apostille or embassy attestation, Eligibility Certificate or NEET-UG scorecard (where applicable) and proof of citizenship.
- Choose four test cities. NBEMS allots a centre in one of them.
- Pay the fee online by UPI, credit card or debit card and submit the form.
- Check that the payment status in the form shows “S” (successful).

Payment gateway charges are extra. The fee is not refunded or carried forward to a later session. In the edit window you can change all details except name, nationality, email ID, Aadhaar, mobile number and test city.
Who can appear for FMGE October 2026?
You can appear if you are an Indian citizen or OCI holding a primary medical qualification (MBBS or equivalent) from a medical institution outside India, and the result of its final exam was declared on or before 31 August 2026.
- Eligibility Certificate: needed from the NMC (or the former MCI), except for those who got the qualification or admission abroad before 15 March 2002, or were admitted between 15 May 2013 and 3 January 2014.
- NEET-UG: students who went abroad for MBBS from May 2018 onward must have qualified NEET-UG; the NEET result counts as the Eligibility Certificate.
- Admission on or after 18 November 2021: eligibility is judged under the NMC Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate Regulations, 2021.
- Documents: you must hold the degree or provisional pass certificate, apostilled or attested by the Indian embassy, when you apply.
- Not needed: holders of both an undergraduate and a postgraduate medical qualification from Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UK or the USA who are recognised to practise there.
- Attempts: there is no limit, but once you pass FMGE you cannot take it again.
What is the FMGE October 2026 exam pattern?
FMGE is one 300-question computer-based paper taken in two parts on the same day, with no negative marking. Part I runs from 9:00 to 11:33 AM and Part II from 2:00 to 4:33 PM. Subject-wise marks are on the FMGE syllabus page.
