Which GBPUAT programmes need the Pantnagar entrance exam?
The GBPUAT entrance exam fills the B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture, Community Science, B.F.Sc., B.V.Sc. & A.H., B.Tech Food Technology and B.Tech Biotechnology seats, plus most Masters, the MCA and Ph.D. seats. Other programmes use national tests, as the 2026 prospectus sets out below.

ICAR’s all-India quota seats are not filled from the GBPUAT rank list. For UG they go through ICAR counselling, which has used CUET (UG) scores since ICAR stopped its own AIEEA UG test after 2022. Candidates from other states who want a normal (non-payment) UG seat at Pantnagar should take that route.
How to Apply for GBPUAT Entrance Exam 2027
You apply online on the GBPUAT admission portal (gbpuat.org.in); there is no offline form. The 2027 form is expected to open in March 2027 with the Admission Notice and prospectus.

Applications for GBPUAT 2027 are expected in March 2027.
- Open the GBPUAT admission portal and register with your mobile number, email ID, name, date of birth, programme, domicile state and the subject group (paper code) you will take.
- Log in with the registration number and password sent to your registered email ID.
- Fill in your parents’ names, Aadhaar number, category, sub-category and any weightage you claim (rural, agriculturist, sports or NCC).
- Add your address, education details and qualifying exam status, and choose your exam centres.
- Upload your photograph, signature and left-hand thumb impression.
- Pay the application fee online and keep a printout of the submitted form for document verification.

The fee is non-refundable and a submitted form cannot be withdrawn. A candidate who wants both the MCA and a Masters programme has to fill two separate forms. In 2026 a correction window ran from 1 to 3 May 2026.
Who can apply for GBPUAT Entrance Exam 2027?
Anyone who meets the qualification for a programme can apply, but domicile decides the seat type: bonafide residents of Uttarakhand compete for normal and payment seats, while other-state candidates get only payment seats at UG and Masters level. For Ph.D., all candidates are eligible for both.
- B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture and Community Science: 10+2 in Agriculture, or Science with Mathematics or Biology, with 50% marks (47.5% for OBC, SC and ST).
- B.F.Sc.: 10+2 Science with Biology and 50% marks (47.5% for OBC, SC and ST).
- B.V.Sc. & A.H.: 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English and 50% aggregate in these subjects (47.5% for OBC, SC and ST); you must take the PCB paper.
- B.Tech Food Technology: 10+2 with PCM, PCB or PCMB and 50% marks (47.5% for OBC, SC and ST).
- B.Tech Biotechnology: 10+2 with PCM, PCB or PCMB and 50% in these subjects (45% for reserved categories).
- Masters and Ph.D.: the relevant bachelor’s or master’s degree listed for each major in the prospectus.
UG programmes other than B.Tech and B.V.Sc. have an upper age limit of 25 years on 31 December of the admission year, relaxed by five years for SC, ST and OBC. B.V.Sc. has a minimum age of 17 years and no upper limit. Class 12 students who are still appearing can apply but must upload the marksheet at counselling.
What is the GBPUAT Entrance Exam 2027 pattern?
The UG exam is one common 3-hour objective paper of 200 questions for 600 marks, printed in English and Hindi; each correct answer earns 3 marks and each wrong answer loses 1. You choose one of three papers by your Class 12 stream.

The same +3 and -1 marking applies to every paper, and calculators, log tables, mobile phones and smart watches are banned. In 2026 UG centres were Almora, Dehradun, Haldwani, Pantnagar, Pithoragarh, Rishikesh and Srinagar (Garhwal). Topic lists for each paper are on the GBPUAT syllabus page.
How many seats does GBPUAT fill through the entrance exam?
The 2026 prospectus lists these UG seats; the 2027 prospectus may change them.

Half of the UG payment seats are kept for other-state candidates. Over and above these, 30% of sanctioned seats (except B.V.Sc.) go to the ICAR quota and 15% of B.V.Sc. seats to the VCI quota. In 2026 the programme fee for a B.Sc. Agriculture payment seat was Rs 50,000 a semester on top of the university fee.
How does GBPUAT admit students after the exam?
Admission is strictly by merit rank in the entrance exam, through counselling rounds run by the Controller of Examination after the result.
- The Admissions Committee fixes the qualifying cut-off after the rank list is out.
- Rank lists and dates for each round are posted on gbpuat.org.in; no letters are sent.
- Early rounds are online with document upload; later spot and final rounds can be offline at Pantnagar.
- Allotted candidates report with original documents and a medical fitness certificate and pay the fees.
