UID has opened applications for 2027-28 but has not yet announced the UID DAT 2027 test date or the last date to apply. The 2026 test was held on Sunday, 11 January 2026, so the 2027 test is expected in January 2027.

How to Apply for UID DAT 2027
You apply for UID DAT 2027 online on the UID admissions portal, which shows general-category admissions open for 2027-28 at all three campuses. UID also accepts a printed application form sent to the campus with a demand draft.

The UID DAT 2027 application dates have not been announced yet.
- Open the UID admissions portal and choose Register.
- Enter your name, email address and mobile number, and validate the mobile number to create your account.
- Log in with your password or with an OTP on your mobile.
- Fill in the application form with your personal, academic and programme details.
- Pay the application fee and keep a copy of the submitted form.

Who can apply for UID DAT 2027?
You can apply for UID DAT 2027 if you have passed, or are appearing in, the qualifying course for your programme. Any stream is accepted.
- B.Design (Hons.): 10+2 pass or appearing, or a 3-year diploma equivalent to 10+2, from a recognised board or institute.
- M.Design: a 3-year or 4-year bachelor’s degree, or a 5-year diploma, in any stream, pass or appearing.
- For admission you need at least 50% aggregate in the qualifying exam and must clear UID’s two-tier evaluation.
- NRI, NRI-sponsored, management and foreign applicants who cannot take the two-tier process can apply in a separate window based on a digital portfolio evaluation, with the same 50% minimum.
What is the UID DAT 2027 exam pattern?
UID selects students through a two-tier process out of 100: the UID DAT (Tier-I) carries 40% and Tier-II carries 60%. Every candidate who takes Tier-I can appear for Tier-II. The weightage below is from UID’s 2026-27 admission page.

- Tier-I Part A, General Ability Test (GAT): multiple-choice questions with 4 options. In the 2024 UG paper it had 30 questions for 40 marks.
- Tier-I Part B, Creative Ability Test (CAT): written answers typed in a text box and drawing answers on A4 sheets that you photograph and upload. In the 2024 UG paper it had 3 questions for 60 marks.
- Situation Test: 2 hours. You build a 3D composition from a material kit and write a short note on your design process.
- Portfolio: 10 to 15 slides of your own creative work in a single PDF of up to 15 MB.
- Personal Interview: a 15-minute online discussion of your portfolio and your choice of course.

Which programmes can I join through UID DAT 2027?
UID DAT 2027 leads to UID’s B.Design (Hons.) and M.Design programmes. Not every programme runs at every campus, so check the campus when you apply.

What happens after the UID DAT 2027 test?
After Tier-I, you book a Tier-II slot from your UID application account. In 2026 Ahmedabad held Tier-II online (portfolio plus interview, 25 March to 5 April 2026), while NCR and Bengaluru held the offline Situation Test and portfolio round in April. UID then sends results by email; the steps are on the UID DAT 2027 result page.
