CA Intermediate previous year question papers from May 2019 to September 2026 are free to download here, every ICAI session year by year, with ICAI’s suggested answers for 2022 to 2026 and MCQ answer keys for May 2025, September 2025 and May 2026. Since May 2024 the exam has six 100-mark papers of 3 hours each, with 30 marks of MCQs in every paper, so the 2024 to 2026 papers are the ones to solve before the January 2027 exam.

How the CA Intermediate Papers Changed (2019–2026)
- May 2019 to November 2023: the 2017 scheme with eight papers, four in each group. Only Papers 2, 4, 6 and 7 had a 30-mark MCQ part; Papers 1, 3, 5 and 8 were fully descriptive.
- 2020 and 2021: COVID-19 changed the calendar. There was no May 2020 exam, and 2021 had three sittings, in January, July and December.
- From May 2024: the new scheme has six papers, and every paper has 30 marks of MCQs and 70 marks of descriptive questions. ICAI now holds three sessions a year: January, May and September.
- Using the old papers: Accounting, Law, Cost, Tax, Audit and FM questions from 2019 to 2023 are still good practice for common topics. Enterprise Information Systems is no longer a separate paper.
How to Use CA Intermediate Previous Year Papers?
- Write each paper in 3 hours. That is 1.8 minutes a mark. Split the time by marks, about 54 minutes for the 30 MCQ marks and about 126 minutes for the 70 descriptive marks, and use the 15 minutes of reading time to choose your questions.
- Answer every MCQ. There is no negative marking for a wrong MCQ answer, so a blank MCQ is a sure loss of marks. Never leave the MCQ part incomplete.
- Solve 2026, 2025 and 2024 first. They follow the six-paper scheme you will write in January 2027. Check the MCQs against ICAI’s keys and the descriptive answers against ICAI’s suggested answers.
- Aim above 40 in every paper. You need 40 in each paper and 50% in the group aggregate. In May 2026 only 8.47% of both-group candidates passed (ICAI), so one weak paper can cost you the group.
- Plan for 2 January 2027. About nine weeks remain before Group I. Two full papers a week covers the January, May and September 2026 sessions (18 papers) by the exam.

Is there negative marking in CA Intermediate MCQs?
No. A wrong MCQ answer does not cut marks. Each paper has 30 marks of MCQs and 70 marks of descriptive questions.
Are CA Intermediate 2019 to 2023 papers still useful?
Yes, for topic practice. They follow the old eight-paper 2017 scheme, which ended in November 2023, so match each old paper to the topic it covers in the new six-paper scheme.
Which CA Intermediate papers have answers on this page?

Why is there no CA Intermediate May 2020 paper?
ICAI did not hold the May 2020 exam because of COVID-19. November 2020 was the only Intermediate session that year.
