The HARTRON SETC 2026 syllabus has eight units for the Part I computer test: introduction to computers, Windows, word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint, internet, WWW and web browsers, and e-mail. Part II is a five-minute typing test on computer at 30 words per minute in English or 25 in Hindi.

What is the HARTRON SETC 2026 syllabus for Part I?
Part I covers eight units of basic office computing, as set out in Annexure A of the official prospectus. The key topics in each unit are below.

What is tested in the SETC Part II typing test?
Part II tests your typing speed on a computer, and you take it only after passing Part I or if you are exempted from Part I.
- Duration: 5 minutes for each language.
- Speed needed: 30 words per minute in English or 25 words per minute in Hindi.
- Language: English, Hindi or both, as chosen in the application form.
- Hindi typing is done in the Kruti Dev 010 font.
How is SETC typing speed calculated?
HARTRON counts one word as five keystrokes and subtracts one word for every five mistakes. The prospectus works through this example:
- A candidate types 1,200 keystrokes in five minutes with 10 mistakes.
- Words typed: 1,200 / 5 = 240 words.
- Gross speed: 240 / 5 minutes = 48 words per minute.
- Mistake deduction: 10 / 5 = 2.
- Net speed: 48 – 2 = 46 words per minute, which clears the English standard of 30.
What is the HARTRON SETC 2026 exam pattern?
Part I is an online objective test of 50 questions in English, and Part II is the typing test. The pass standards are fixed by the state government.

How to Prepare for HARTRON SETC 2026
Most SETC questions test everyday office computer use, so practise on a computer while you read each unit.
- Work through each unit in Word, Excel and PowerPoint on a real computer, not just from notes.
- Learn common menu options, shortcuts and terms, since Part I is in English only.
- Practise typing for at least 20 to 30 minutes a day; Hindi typists should practise in the Kruti Dev 010 font.
- Aim for accuracy first: every five mistakes cost one word per minute.
