HP State PG Dental Admission 2018 through NEET MDS

Admission to 50% State quota PG (MDS) degree seats in Govt. Dental College and in pvt. un-aided  Dental Colleges of the State (State quota and Management Quota) shall be filled-up on the basis of state merit which will be drawn on the basis of NEET-MDS-2018 ranking being conducted by the National Board of Examination, New Delhi.

Directorate of Medical Education & Research, Himachal Pradesh is the body which looks after medical and dental admissions in the state of Himachal Pradesh. It provides information on seats, admission application forms, merit list. Also it executes counselling for admission. By the same token DMER Himachal Pradesh is organizing HP State PG Dental Admission 2018.

Eligibility Criteria

  • In-service GDO(s) candidates M.O. Dental (HPHS) are eligible for PG(MDS) courses as per NEET-MDS ranking /marks .


  1. Graduates (BDS) of Govt. and private Dental Colleges of the Himachal Pradesh ( i.e. H.P. Govt. Dental College, Shimla , Himachal Dental College & Hospital Sundernagar, Distt. Mandi ,Bhojia Dental College & Hospital , Nalagarh, MNDAV Dental College, Tatul, Distt. Solan and Himachal Institute of Dental Sciences, Paonta Sahib, Distt. Sirmour).
  2. Bonofide Himachalis who have done BDS from any institute recognized by Dental Council of India (DCI).
  3. Children of H.P. Government employees /employees of Autonomous Bodies wholly or partially financed by H.P. Government getting admission to BDS course through CBSE or any other All India entrance Examination in DCI/G.O.I. any recognized Dental Colleges in India.


(a) Possess BDS degree of Himachal Pradesh University or any other University recognized by Dental Council of India. Internship should be completed within the 1st round of Counselling.

(b) Candidate must be registered with either Dental Council of India or any of the State Dental Council in India.

(c) The candidate possessing foreign qualifications (BDS Degree) will have to produce the certificate of having passed the DCI examination as well as certificate of recognition by DCI at the time of 1st round of counselling.

For 50% management quota seats in private un-aided Dental Colleges , non Bonafide/Domicile candidates can also apply  as per NEET-PG MDS ranking/marks

HP State PG Dental 2018 Counselling

The Department of Medical Education & Research will conduct Counseling during the month of April / May, 2018 for filling-up of 50% State Quota PG (MDS) Degree seats in H.P. Govt. Dental College & Hospital Shimla. 50% State Quota and 50% Management Quota seats in private un-aided Dental Colleges of the State, as per merit list drawn by the Principal, H. P. Government Dental College & Hospital Shimla-cum-Mernber Secretary Counseling Committee on the basis of H.P. State result of NEET-MDS-2018.

The prescribed Application form and Prospectus for PG(MDS) counseling can be obtained from the Office of Principal, H.P. Govt. Dental College & Hospital, Shimla, Block-B, Student Section, Room No. 406, w. e. f. February 2018 during working days on cash payment of Rs. 1500/- for General category and 1000/- for SC/ST categories.

All the candidates whose names figured in the qualified in the NEET MDS-2018 H. P. State result and which will be available on the websites (i) www.hp.gov.in/hpdmer (ii) www.hpgdecshimla.org and fulfills the eligibility criteria. and other terms and condition as laid down in the prospectus for PG(MDS) counseling, 2018 are required to submit their application forms (in original) on or before March 2018 to the Principal, H. P. Government Dental College & Hospital, Shimla-171001. The In-service M.O. (Dental) candidates (Regular/Contract/RKS) are required to submit their application form along with “NO OBJECTION CERTIFICATE” form the competent authority as per specimen mentioned in the prospectus.

Qualifying criteria for applying PG(MDS) counseling-2018 is as under:

  • General Category – 50% percentile
  • SC/ST – 40% percentile
  • Person with Disability – 45% percentile

Candidate’s less than above percentile in NEET-MDS-2018 is not eligible to apply for the counseling.

It will be entire responsibility of the candidate to procure the prospectus and submit the Application form within the stipulated date. The department of Medial Education & Research, HP and the Principal, H. P. Government Dental College & Hospital Shimla will not be responsible for any delay for non receipt/misplacement/loss of prospectus/ application from in transit.
