Maharashtra NEET Counselling 2026: Stray Round Dates, Fee, Seats

Maharashtra NEET Counselling 2026 is the State CET Cell’s Centralised Admission Process (CAP) for MBBS and BDS seats in Maharashtra, based on NEET UG 2026 merit. It fills state quota and institutional quota seats in government and private colleges. CAP Round 3 is over, and online stray vacancy rounds run from 16 to 26 October 2026 (revised).

Maharashtra NEET Counselling 2026 Important Dates

CAP Rounds 1, 2 and 3 are complete, and Round 3 joining was extended to 3:00 PM on 16 October 2026. Online stray vacancy rounds follow from 16 to 26 October 2026, the last date of admission set by MCC. The 2027 counselling is expected to start in August 2027, after the NEET UG 2027 result.

Which seats are filled through Maharashtra NEET counselling?

State CET Cell fills every MBBS and BDS seat in Maharashtra except the 15% All India Quota and other central seats. The 2026 information brochure splits the seats as below.

Minority colleges keep a share of their seats for candidates of that minority. For All India Quota seats, register separately in MCC NEET counselling; candidates holding an AIQ Round 3 seat are dropped from the state Round 3 list and the stray rounds.

How to apply for Maharashtra NEET Counselling 2026?

You register once on the State CET Cell NEET UG 2026 portal, pay the fee, upload documents, and then fill fresh preferences for each round. Registration for 2026 is closed: the stray vacancy rounds take no new registrations.

1. Open the NEET UG 2026 CAP portal and register with your mobile number and email ID. An OTP is sent to both.
2. Fill the form with your NEET UG 2026 roll number, category, domicile and quota claims, and choose state quota, institutional quota or both.
3. Create a password, submit the form and pay the non-refundable fee online. You are registered only after the payment goes through.
4. Upload coloured scans of all original documents and click Submit. Documents are verified online.
5. Check your name and NEET rank in the provisional merit list and raise a grievance with proof if something is wrong.
6. Fill and lock your college preferences in each round’s choice-filling window. You can unlock and edit them with an OTP until the deadline.

The fee is the same for all categories and is not refunded. NRI candidates also had to register on the Foreign Candidate Registration Portal before each deadline.

How to log in to the Maharashtra NEET UG 2026 CAP portal?

You log in to the CAP portal to complete your form, upload documents, fill and lock preferences in each round and see your allotment.

1. Open the official login page of the NEET UG 2026 CAP portal.
2. Select Login/Registration. It opens the State CET Cell’s common candidate login.
3. Enter your user name (application number) and the password you created at registration.
4. Check your application status, documents and merit details on the dashboard.
5. During a choice-filling window, open the preference form, arrange your choices and lock it before the deadline.

Forgot your password? The brochure says State CET Cell keeps no record of candidates’ passwords, so note yours safely. For login problems, use the portal contact page or raise a ticket from your candidate login.

Who can apply for Maharashtra NEET Counselling 2026?

You must be an Indian national who has qualified NEET UG 2026 and registered with State CET Cell. State quota seats also need a Maharashtra link.

• Born on or before 31 December 2009.
• Class 12 with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology: at least 50% in PCB for Open and EWS, 40% for reserved categories and SEBC, and 45% for Open PwD.
• NEET UG 2026 PCB score of at least the 50th percentile for Open and EWS, the 40th for reserved categories and SEBC, and the 45th for Open PwD.
• State quota: Maharashtra domicile, with Class 10 and Class 12 passed from a school or college in Maharashtra. The brochure lists exceptions, such as children of Maharashtra government employees posted outside the state.
• Institutional quota and private university AIQ seats: any eligible candidate in India, including NRI, OCI and outside-Maharashtra candidates.
• A medical fitness certificate in the brochure format.

OBC and SEBC candidates got six months from registration to submit the Caste Validity Certificate. A September 2026 circular gave SC, VJ, NT, OBC and SBC candidates three more months.

How many MBBS and BDS seats are there in Maharashtra CAP 2026?

The Round 1 seat matrix of 25 August 2026 listed these colleges and seats. Intake includes All India Quota seats; CAP seats are what State CET Cell allots.

What is the MBBS fee in Maharashtra, and is there a bond?

Fees in government, aided and corporation colleges are fixed by the state. Private college fees are set by the Fees Regulating Authority (FRA).

There is no one-year service bond for MBBS students of government, corporation, private or minority colleges, as per a Government Resolution of 23 July 2026. BDS students in government and corporation colleges must still serve one year after internship. Leaving a government MBBS or BDS seat after the deadline, so that the seat lapses, carries a penalty of Rs 10 lakh.

How do the CAP rounds and upgrades work?

Seats are allotted by NEET merit and your preferences, round by round. You must fill fresh choices in every round, because old choices are cancelled.

• Join the college allotted to you in a round, with original documents and fees, or the allotment is cancelled.
• To stay in the race for a better seat, join but do not submit the Status Retention Form. Submitting it locks your seat and takes you out of later rounds.
• Joining a Round 3 seat is compulsory. A candidate allotted a Round 3 seat cannot take part in the stray rounds.
• In 2026 there is no institute-level round. All leftover seats go through up to three online stray vacancy rounds run by State CET Cell.
• A stray round seat must be joined, and anyone allotted a seat in stray round 1 is out of later stray rounds.
• If you do not join a seat in the last round and it lapses, you cannot get admission in that group for the next two years.

What documents do you need for Maharashtra NEET counselling?

Upload these at registration and bring the originals when you join, as listed in Notice No. 02.

• NEET UG 2026 admit card and scorecard
• Class 10 passing certificate and Class 12 mark sheet
• Nationality certificate and Maharashtra domicile certificate
• Medical fitness certificate and school leaving certificate
• Caste certificate, Caste Validity Certificate and Non-Creamy Layer certificate, if you claim a reserved category
• EWS certificate in the Maharashtra government format (the central format is not accepted)
• PwD, defence, orphan, hilly area, Maharashtra-Karnataka border or minority certificates, if claimed
• Aadhaar card, PAN card or passport
