Sikkim University Admission 2017
Sikkim University has been released a notification regarding Sikkim University Admission 2017 for applicants who are seeking for admissions in UG/ PG courses. Applicants who are eligible for Sikkim University Admission 2017 and want to take admissions in Under Graduate and Post Graduate courses proposed by Sikkim University. They can submit application form in correct manner on or before last date stated below.

How to Apply?
Admission Procedure for UG and PG programmes
All applications received online within the specified date shall be scrutinized and shortlisted in terms of eligibility criteria / guidelines laid down for the purpose and shall be uploaded on University website www.cus.ac.in.
The candidate shall fill up the Admission Form online and pay Rs. 700/- for General and Rs. 350 for ST/SC/OBC/PWD towards the payment of cost of admission form and CAT Fee through online payment gateway or bank challan at any branch of State Bank of India.
There shall be a Central Admission Test (CAT) for all applicants of UG and PG programme. The total marks for the test shall be 100 marks out of which a candidate should score 50 % in order to qualify in the CAT and for preparation of merit list.
CAT shall be held for all UG and PG courses at five test venues namely Gangtok, Siliguri, Guwahati, Namchi (South Sikkim) and Geyzing (West Sikkim).
Candidates shall choose the test venue while filling up the admission form online through drop down menu. Students shall be individually informed through e-mail and SMS regarding CAT examination and venues. The list of the eligible candidates will be uploaded on the University website (www.cus.ac.in).
CAT shall be held on 28.05.2017. The duration of CAT will be 3 hours from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The list of eligible candidates for CAT shall also be displayed at Test Venues.
- Under-Graduate (UG) and Post Graduate (PG) – 11.00 am to 2.00 pm
The merit list of the selected candidates shall be prepared based on the performance of the candidates in CAT. A department-wise list of selected candidates shall be uploaded on the University website and displayed in departmental notice boards.
A weightage of 10% will be awarded to the registered students of Sikkim University for the purpose of preparation of merit list of UG and PG courses. Such candidates are required to enter university registration number already awarded to them.
Candidates whose results of qualifying examination are pending are required to submit the same by 14th July 2017 failing which their admission will be cancelled and fee paid shall be forfeited. The vacancy so created shall be awarded to next eligible candidate on merit.
Documents necessary for verification at the time of admission are as follows;
- Original mark-sheet of the qualifying degree together with two self-attested photocopies (both sides) of each.
- Original certificate of proof of age and a self-attested copy of the same.
- Original SC/ST/OBC/PWD certificates together with two self-attested copies of each (both sides).
- Three copies of recent passport size photograph.
- Photocopy of the Registration Certificate if belonging to affiliated colleges / University Department
(Note: All original documents will be returned to the candidates immediately after verification. Students from colleges not affiliated to Sikkim University shall produce migration certificates in original by September 30, 2017 failing which their admission shall stand cancelled and the fee paid shall not be refunded except hostel mess fees, if any.)
Admission Procedure for M.Phil. and Ph.D programmes
Candidates with at least 55% marksfor General and 50% marks for SC, ST and OBC (noncreamy) candidates in relevant disciplines are eligible to apply for M.Phil. and Ph.D programmes.
A candidate shall fill up the Admission Form online by paying a fee of Rs. 700 for General and Rs. 350 for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates through online payment gateway or bank challan at any branch of State Bank of India.
All applications received online within the specified date will be scrutinized by a duly appointed Working Committee for Admission (WCA). The list of candidates shortlisted for written test and for interview shall be uploaded on University website and will be displayed on departmental notice boards. No individual communication shall be made in this regard.
Written examination and interview are compulsory for admission to M.Phil and Ph.D programmes. However, applicants with UGC- JRF, CSIR-JRF, GATE / SLET or M.Phil. degree holders, wherever applicable, are exempted from written examination.
A candidate may apply for M.Phil / Ph.D programme in more than one department. However, this option is restricted to three departments only namely Political Science, Peace and Conflict Studies and Management and International Relations. Such candidates will appear in written examination in one department only. The Question papers of these three departments will have two sections: Section ‘A’ comprising common topics on Research Methodology and Section ‘B’ comprising questions specific to subject concerned.
