The UCEED 2027 syllabus, set by IIT Bombay, has seven Part-A topics, from visualisation and spatial reasoning to creativity, and two Part-B areas: drawing and design aptitude. Part-A is a 2-hour computer-based test for 200 marks and Part-B a 1-hour drawing paper for 100 marks, both on 17 January 2027.

What is in the UCEED 2027 Part-A syllabus?
Part-A tests seven areas through NAT, MSQ and MCQ questions on the computer.
- Visualisation and spatial reasoning: visualising and transforming 2D shapes and 3D objects and their spatial relationships.
- Practical and scientific knowledge: how scientific principles apply to everyday objects.
- Observation and design sensitivity: spotting hidden properties in daily life and thinking critically about them, with attention to detail, classification, analysis, inference and prediction.
- Environment and society: general awareness of the environmental, social and cultural links of design.
- Analytical and logical reasoning: analysing qualitative and quantitative information.
- Language: reading and understanding standard English.
- Creativity: verbal and non-verbal analogies, metaphors, signs and symbols.
What is in the UCEED 2027 Part-B syllabus?
Part-B tests two skills, one question each, worth 50 marks apiece.
- Drawing: drawing products, people or scenes in proportion, with good line quality, composition, perspective and shading.
- Design aptitude: responding to problems and situations practically, with ingenuity and empathy.
The questions appear on screen and you answer in an answer booklet. Bring your own pencils in shades of black; colour pencils, sketch pens and paints are not allowed.
What is the UCEED 2027 exam pattern and marking scheme?
UCEED 2027 has 59 questions for 300 marks in 3 hours: 57 in Part-A and 2 in Part-B.

- MSQ full marks: +4 when you choose all the correct options and no wrong one.
- MSQ partial marks: +3, +2 or +1 when you choose only some of the correct options and no wrong one.
- MSQ penalty: -1 when any wrong option is chosen; an unanswered MSQ gets 0.
Is there an official UCEED 2027 syllabus PDF?
Yes. The syllabus is in section 16 of the UCEED 2027 Information Brochure and on the syllabus page of the official UCEED website. IIT Bombay notes that the paper may not cover every listed topic.

How should I prepare for UCEED 2027?
- Solve the UCEED previous year question papers from 2024 onwards first, since they follow the current 57-question pattern.
- Practise visual puzzles daily: counting surfaces, mirror images, folding, and views of 3D objects.
- Sketch every day from observation and memory, and time yourself at 30 minutes per drawing.
- Read about design, art, culture and the environment to build general awareness.
- Try the sample exam interface on the official website, then take full 3-hour timed papers.
