UCEED 2027 (Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design) is the national B.Des entrance test conducted by IIT Bombay. It will be held on 17 January 2027, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon, in 30 cities. Its ranks fill B.Des seats at seven institutes, including IIT Bombay, Delhi and Guwahati. Registration is open till 31 October 2026.

How to Apply for UCEED 2027
You register for UCEED 2027 online on the UCEED registration portal from 1 to 31 October 2026, or till 6 November 2026, 5:00 PM, with a late fee. There is no offline form, and incomplete forms are rejected.
Apply Online for UCEED 2027
The UCEED 2027 application window (1 to 31 October 2026) has closed. Regular-fee registration closes 31 October 2026; with late fee (Rs 500) till 6 November 2026, 5:00 PM.
- Read the UCEED 2027 Information Brochure and check that you meet all three eligibility criteria.
- Open the UCEED 2027 registration portal and click Register to create an account with a valid email ID. The email ID is verified before you can continue.
- Log in and fill in your personal, category and Class XII details. Choose three exam cities in order of preference.
- Upload your photograph and signature as .jpg files, and proof of age as a PDF. Add your Class XII certificate, or the Appendix 1 certificate from your school if you take Class XII in 2027, plus any category or PwD certificate.
- Pay the registration fee online and submit the form. Keep a copy for your records.

Bank charges are extra, and the fee is neither refundable nor transferable. Your exam city and category cannot be changed after registration; other errors can be fixed through the website by 8 January 2027, 5:00 PM.
Who can apply for UCEED 2027?
You can take UCEED 2027 if you meet all three of IIT Bombay’s criteria at the same time; foreign nationals follow the same rules.
- Age: born on or after 1 October 2002 (OPEN, EWS, OBC-NCL) or on or after 1 October 1997 (SC, ST, PwD).
- Attempts: at most two, and only in consecutive years. A UCEED score is valid for one year, for admission in that academic year only.
- Class XII: you must have appeared for Class XII (or equivalent) for the first time in 2026 or 2027, in any stream: Science, Commerce, or Arts and Humanities.
- If you first appeared in 2025, you are eligible only if your board declared its 2024-25 results on or after 30 September 2025.
- A three-year AICTE or State Board diploma counts as a qualifying exam for UCEED, but participating institutes may not accept it for B.Des admission.
Which Class XII subjects do I need for B.Des admission through UCEED 2027?
Any stream can take UCEED 2027, but your Class XII subjects decide which institutes you can join.

For admission you also need a UCEED 2027 rank and a Class XII pass in 2026 or 2027, with proof of passing sent to the admitting institute by 30 September 2027.
What is the UCEED 2027 exam pattern?
UCEED 2027 is one 3-hour paper in English for 300 marks, split into two compulsory parts.

- Part-B questions appear on the computer screen, but you draw and write your answers in an answer booklet handed out 30 minutes before the exam.
- Part-B is evaluated only if you clear the Part-A shortlisting cut-off. The topics for both parts are on the UCEED 2027 syllabus page.
- PwD candidates get 20 extra minutes per hour in each part. A scribe can help only in Part-A, because Part-B tests your own drawing.
Where will UCEED 2027 be held?
UCEED 2027 will be held in 30 cities in India, and you choose three of them in order of preference while registering.
The cities are Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh/Mohali, Chennai, Coimbatore, Dehradun, Delhi, Ernakulam, Goa, Guwahati, Hubballi, Hyderabad, Jabalpur, Jaipur, Kolkata, Kozhikode, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Noida, Patna, Pune, Raipur, Silchar, Solapur, Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur and Visakhapatnam. A city with too few candidates may be dropped, and you are then placed in your second or third choice.
Which institutes admit students through UCEED 2027?
Seven institutes fill their B.Des seats through UCEED and a joint seat allotment run by IIT Bombay.

The 2027-28 seat matrix will be published at the time of the B.Des application. Many other design schools, such as BITS Design School, CEPT University and FLAME University, used UCEED 2026 results for their own admissions, and you apply to them separately.

How does B.Des admission work after UCEED 2027?
Only candidates with a UCEED 2027 rank can apply, through one common B.Des application that opens on 15 March 2027.
- Fill the common form on the IIT Bombay Admissions Portal, list institutes in order of preference and upload your scorecard, Class XII mark sheet and category documents.
- IIT Bombay allots seats in five rounds by All India Rank, category and choices. The tentative round dates are 21 April, 19 May, 14 June, 25 June and 9 July 2027.
- When you get a seat, you pay a seat acceptance fee of Rs 65,000 (GEN, EWS, OBC-NCL) or Rs 20,000 (SC, ST, PwD), which includes a Rs 5,000 processing fee that is not refunded.
