What is Allowed To Carry at Exam Centre with CAT 2020 Admit Card?
On the exam day the candidates can only carry the below given things at the exam centre:
1. CAT 2020 admit card
- Photo pasted on the space provided
- Not distorted or damaged
2. One valid photo Id card
- Must be original
- Scanned and photocopy will not be accepted
- Name of the candidate on the ID card must match the name on admit card

What is not Allowed At CAT 2020 Exam Centre?
The candidates can check the list of items that are not allowed at the exam centre of CAT 2020:
Stationery items: The candidates are not allowed to carry any stationery items. The stationary items include the following:
- Textual material (printed or written)

- Geometry or Pencil Box

The reference number: The reference number as printed on the CAT admit card is the guide to designated seat. CAT 2020 admit card shall consist of distinct 10 digit reference number which is different from the CAT registration number. The seat allocation at the designation work station is as per to the Reference number and not as per your registration number. So, it is advised to check it in advance to avoid any inconvenience on the exam day.
Google map link: On CAT 2020 admit card, candidates are provided with the facility to locate their test center through Google Map. Open the CAT admit card PDF and click on the link as shown in the image. In the next screen, the Google Map opens indicating the location of the test center.
Dress Code In CAT 2020
There is a particular dress code that must be followed at CAT 2020 exam center. Below are some general instructions to follow:
Wear: Light coloured clothes with half sleeves. It is important to wear slippers or sandals.
Do not wear: The candidates must avoid long sleeves or fully covered shoes.
CAT 2020 Exam Pattern
The exam pattern of CAT 2020 is as follows:
- Duration of the exam – This National level exam is of 03 hours duration. PWD/DA candidates with scribe requirements will get an extra hour to complete the test
- Mode of the exam – CAT is conducted in online mode, which means it is a computer-based test.
- Language of the Questions – The questions in the test are asked in English language only
- Number of Questions – There are a total of 100 number of question
- Type of Questions – In CAT, there are two type of question – MCQs and Type in the answers type questions (TITA)
- Name of the section –There are three sections in the CAT exam, these are, Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension. (VARC); Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR); Quantitative Ability (QA)
- Marking scheme – For a correct answer, candidates get 03 marks and there is a deduction of 01 marks for incorrect answers.
Candidates should note that IIMs do not release the CAT exam pattern. The distribution of questions as provided below is provided on the basis of previous year exam analysis.

CAT 2020 Answer Key
After the exam is over, the answer key of the exam is released. First various unofficial answer keys that are memory based are released by the teachers, coaching centres, subject experts etc. These are based on memory of the question asked in the exam as remembered by the students.
A few days later the official answer key is released by the conducting IIM. To check the official CAT answer key, candidates require their user id and password. Along with it, CAT 2020 question paper and response sheet are also released. Candidates should use it to cross-check their answer by adding 03 marks for a correct answer and deducting 01 marks for an incorrect answer, in case of MCQ type questions. For TITA type questions, there is no negative marking for an incorrect answer.
About CAT 2020
Common Admission Test (CAT) is a national level test which is conducted by various IIMs on a rotational basis. It is conducted in online mode and is used as shortlisting criteria for admission in PGP, FPM programmes in 20 Indian Institute of Management (IIMs). Is a calculator allowed in the exam hall of CAT?
No. It is strictly prohibited. However, an on-screen calculator is available on the computer screen of the candidates during the exam.
What should I do if I am unable to find my CAT 2020 User ID or password?
If you do not have your user ID or password, then please go to Existing User Login and click the ‘Forgot User ID/Password’ button. Then key in registered Email ID and captcha that appears on the screen. You will then receive User ID/Password on registered Email ID.
Can I get CAT Admit Card 2020 by post?
No, CAT Admit Card shall not be sent by post or any means. Only the online mode is available to download the admit card.
Do I need to carry an original Photo Id proof at the CAT center?
Yes, it is necessary to carry a photo Id proof with the CAT admit card in original. Do not carry a photocopy.
If I belong to the PwD category, then in such a case will I be given extra time in CAT?
Candidates belonging to the PwD category, they will be given 20 minutes extra for each section in CAT, which means that they will have to complete the test in four hours instead of three hours.
