CLAT 2018 Eligibility

Below we have discussed the CLAT 2018 Eligibility criteria for both the candidates appearing for UGa and PG admissions. Read below.

CLAT 2018 Eligibility for UG Programmes

Age Limit: There will be no upper age limit for applying for CLAT 2018.

Qualifying Marks: A candidate must have the following minimum percentage in his/her qualifying examination to be able to apply for CLAT 2018.

  1. 45% marks in case of candidates belonging to Unreserved/OBC/Specially Abled Persons (SAP) and other categories.
  2. 40% marks in case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) categories.

Qualifying Examination: The candidates must have appeared in the qualifying examination i.e 10+2. Candidates who will be appearing for their qualifying examination this year are also eligible to apply. Although they must produce the proof of their qualification at the time admission. Failing to do so will cancel their candidature.

CLAT 2018 Eligibility for PG Programmes

Age Limit: No Upper Limit for applying for CLAT 2018.

Qualifying Marks: A candidate must have the following minimum percentage in his/her qualifying examination to be able to apply for CLAT 2018.

  1. 55% marks in case of candidates belonging to Unreserved/OBC/Specially Abled Persons (SAP) and other categories.
  2. 50% marks in case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) categories.

Qualifying Examination: Candidates must have qualified LL.B./Five-Year Integrated LL.B. (Hons.)/any other equivalent examination. The candidate must have passed/appeared in the final semester/final year examination of the qualifying examination on the date of his/her admission.  In case of candidates who have appeared in the qualifying examination, he/she may submit his/her final result of qualifying examination within the time frame prescribed by the respective University/Institute. Till then such candidates may be given provisional admission.

CLAT 2018: Age no Bar!

Yes, there always have been many changes in CLAT age criteria. But in 2018, it has been decided that there will be no age cap in PG and PG admission via CLAT.

Till 2014, the age restriction was 20 years for candidates who belonged to General Category. This Cap was removed in 2015 and 2016. This cap was reintroduced in 2017. CLAT authorities have made the necessary changes and now a student above 20 years in case of General category and 22 years in case of Reserved category will be eligible for applying to Common Law Aptitude Test – CLAT 2018.

Supreme court has made it clear that there will be no age limit for Law admissions via CLAT 2018.
