How Is CLAT 2020 Result Calculated?
CLAT result is compiled on the basis of the final answer key and marking of exam. Candidate’s score is calculated by using the marking scheme and cross-checking the correct & incorrect answers. For every correct answer and incorrect answer marks is allotted as per marking scheme:
- For every correct answer +1 mark is awarded
- For every incorrect answer -1/4 mark is deducted
- For no answer and multi-answer 0 marks are given
According to this, total score of the candidate is calcuated by using given formula
CLAT Raw Score = +1 (total no. of correct answers) – 1/4 (total no. of incorrect answers)
On the basis of the score, candidates are allotted ranks. In case of two or more candidates have same marks, then tie-breaking criteria is applied.
CLAT 2020 Merit List
CLAT merit list is released after the declaration of result separately for different colleges at the same time. Candidates who have qualified the exam, are selected in the merit list. In merit list, candidate’s rank, name, admit card number and the provisionally allotted university is mentioned. However, the basis of allotment of seats are based on ‘merit-cum-preference’. As per list, selected candidates can lock the allotted by paying the admission fee of Rs. 50,000/-.
CLAT 2020 Tie-Breaking Criteria
In case of two or more candidates have same marks, then the rank is allotted on the basis of the mentioned below tie-breaking criteria:
- First, higher marks in the component /section on legal aptitude in the CLAT is considered
- If tie still exists, then seniority in age is considered
- Then, the computerized draw is considered
How to Retrieve CLAT 2020 Login Details?

4th Step– Later on a new window will appear on the screen. Enters the mobile number and request OTP. Once you will recieve OTP, click on the Reset Account tab.
5th Step– On next window, enter the mobile number, OTP, new password, confirm the password and click on ‘reset password’.
6th Step– Now login and can access to your result.

CLAT 2020 Counselling
When the first provisional seat allotment releases the counselling process is going to get started. Candidates having their names on the list have to register themselves for them by paying the counseling fee. The basis of allotment seats is merit-cum-preference. Based on the choices made by candidates during the filling of the application form. After the provisional allottment, candidates have 4 chocies and they have can go for any one choice. 1. Lock – If a candidate is happy with the allloted seat, then they can confirm the seat by paying the admission of Rs. 50,000 at the time of admission. Once the seats is locked and fee has paid, it will not be changed further.
2. Upgrade – If a candidate is not satisfied with the seats alloted in first allotment, then they have to apply to upgrade the option. For upgrading they have to pay the admission fee and the seat which was allotted to them will be retained. Upgrade option is valid for the only those college which are higher than the allotted college, as per the candidate’s prefrences.
3. Withdraw – Withdraw means that if a candidate do not want seat allotment from the CLAT, they can withdraw it. On withdrawing, candidate can not be able to participate in further allotment.
4. Refund – Candidates who have paid the admission fee and decided to withdraw from the CLAT admissions. They can cancelled their admission by taking the refund of Rs. 40,000 after deducting the amount of Rs. 10,000 as a processing fee.
About Common Law Admission Test (CLAT)
21 National Law Universities of India conducts the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) rotationally on the national level. It is a centralized test conducted for admission in 21 NLUs in India.
