DCECE Syllabus 2027 (Bihar Polytechnic): PE, PM, PMM

The DCECE 2027 syllabus is set at Class 10 (Matric) level for the PE and PMM papers, while the PM paper adds Class 12 level Hindi, English and General Knowledge. BCECEB does not publish a chapter-wise list: its prospectus gives the subjects, number of questions and level of each paper. The 2027 prospectus is expected in March 2027.

What does the DCECE 2027 syllabus include?

Each DCECE paper has 90 questions worth 5 marks each, and the subjects depend on your course group. This is the split BCECEB set in the 2026 prospectus.

The PE and PMM papers are entirely at Class 10 level. In the PM paper, General Science and Arithmetic are at Class 10 level, while Hindi, English and General Knowledge are at Class 12 level.

Which topics should you revise for the DCECE PE paper?

Revise Class 9 and Class 10 science and mathematics, since the PE paper is set at Matric level. The NCERT books for these classes cover the topics below.

Physics: motion, force and laws of motion, gravitation, work and energy, sound (Class 9); light (reflection and refraction), the human eye and the colourful world, electricity, magnetic effects of electric current (Class 10).
Chemistry: matter and its states, atoms and molecules, structure of the atom (Class 9); chemical reactions and equations, acids, bases and salts, metals and non-metals, carbon and its compounds (Class 10).
Mathematics: real numbers, polynomials, pair of linear equations, quadratic equations, arithmetic progressions, triangles, coordinate geometry, trigonometry and its applications, circles, areas related to circles, surface areas and volumes, statistics and probability (Class 10).

What should you revise for the DCECE PM and PMM papers?

For PMM, revise Class 10 Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology plus Hindi, English and General Knowledge. For PM, the science and arithmetic sections are at Class 10 level, and the language and GK sections at Class 12 level.

Biology: life processes, control and coordination, how organisms reproduce, heredity, and our environment (Class 10).
Arithmetic: number system, percentage, ratio and proportion, average, profit and loss, simple and compound interest, time and work, and mensuration.
Hindi and English: grammar, vocabulary and reading comprehension.
General Knowledge: current affairs, Indian history, geography and polity, general science facts and Bihar GK.

How are DCECE 2027 papers marked?

Every question carries 5 marks, so each paper is out of 450 and lasts 2 hours 15 minutes. You answer on an OMR sheet in English or Hindi, and the 2026 prospectus does not mention negative marking.

Section marks matter when two candidates tie. In the PE merit list, the higher Mathematics score wins first, then Physics; in PMM, Biology then Chemistry; in PM, General Science then Arithmetic. If still tied, the older candidate ranks higher.

Where is the official DCECE syllabus?

The official subject list and paper pattern are in the DCECE prospectus, under the section on question papers and exam level. The 2026 prospectus is listed below; the 2027 one will replace it when BCECEB releases it.

How to Prepare for DCECE 2027

Finish the NCERT Class 9 and 10 science and maths books first; most PE and PMM questions are at this level.
For PE, give Mathematics extra time: it is a third of the paper and decides ties.
For PM and PMM, practise Hindi and English grammar and read current affairs every day for the GK section.
Solve previous papers under a 2 hour 15 minute timer to build speed for 90 questions.

DCECE Syllabus 2027 FAQs

Is the DCECE syllabus the same as the Bihar Board Class 10 syllabus?

The PE and PMM papers are set at Matric (Class 10) level, so Class 9 and 10 science and maths form the base. BCECEB does not publish a separate chapter-wise list.

Is Biology asked in the DCECE PE paper?

No. The PE paper has only Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, with 30 questions each. Biology is part of the PMM paper and the General Science section of the PM paper.

Is Hindi compulsory in DCECE?

Hindi is a scored section only in the PM and PMM papers (15 and 10 questions). The question paper itself is printed in both English and Hindi, so you can read questions in either language.

Will the DCECE 2027 syllabus change?

The pattern was the same 90 questions and 450 marks in the 2026 prospectus. Any change for 2027 will appear in the 2027 prospectus, expected in March 2027.
