You check the DHR-BRET 2026 result by finding your roll number in the JRF selection list that DHR posts on dhr.gov.in. Watch aiimsexams.ac.in too, because AIIMS posts its own notices for the exam.
- Go to dhr.gov.in and open the latest updates or HRD scheme notices.
- Open the result PDF for BRET-2026; the BRET-2025 list was titled Result of Biomedical Research Fellowships for Scholars With Non-Medical Background.
- Search the PDF for your roll number with Ctrl+F.
- Check your category and the list you appear in.
- Save the PDF and keep your admit card for the award process.
What are the DHR-BRET qualifying marks and how is the merit list made?
DHR makes one combined merit list of everyone who reaches the qualifying mark, and fellowships go in merit order.

- About 250 fellowships a year are planned, subject to budget. For BRET-2025, 500 candidates were selected: 300 in List I and 200 in List II.
- The top 60% of selected candidates may do a Ph.D. at any UGC-recognised university or Institute of National Importance.
- The remaining 40% must join one of the 27 ICMR institutes or centres, registered through AcSIR.
- The top 10% of the merit list get an Exemplary Performance Reward of Rs 1,00,000 research contingency a year during the JRF period.
What happens after the DHR-BRET 2026 result?
If you are selected, you must find a guide, enrol for a Ph.D. and join within one year. BRET-2025 selectees, for example, must activate their fellowship by 17 March 2027.
- Send DHR your willingness to join as soon as you get the award letter.
- Find a Ph.D. guide at an eligible institute and enrol in a Ph.D. on a topic in health research.
- Get ethics committee approval for your project in time.
- Send the joining report to DHR within one year of the award letter, with your Ph.D. enrolment letter certified by your guide.
- Submit your Ph.D. registration certificate within two years of joining.
- Send annual progress reports and utilisation certificates through your guide to keep the stipend coming.
What stipend does a DHR-BRET JRF get?
A DHR-BRET JRF gets Rs 37,000 a month for the first two years, then Rs 42,000 a month as SRF after a review.

The JRF can move to SRF after 22 months, but not before two years are complete. Total fellowship tenure is five years or until thesis submission, whichever is earlier.
