The ISI Admission Test 2027 is the entrance exam of the Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, for B Stat, B Math, M Stat, M Math, MS (QE), M Tech, PG diploma and JRF admissions. Dates are not announced yet. Going by 2026, applications should open in February 2027 and the test should be held in May 2027.

How to Apply for the ISI Admission Test 2027
You apply online only, on the ISI admission portal at admission.isical.ac.in. In 2026 the form was open from 12 February to 26 March 2026 (extended from 13 March), so the 2027 form is expected around February 2027.
Apply Online for ISI Admission Test 2027
Applications for ISI Admission Test 2027 are expected in February 2027.
- Register on the application portal with your email ID and verify the email. Emails come from [email protected].
- Fill in your category details and choose one programme. The portal then shows only the admission channels open to you, such as the ISI Test channel or the INMO or GATE channel.
- Fill in the form, choose your test city, and upload your photograph, signature and any category or PwBD certificate.
- Pay the application fee online and keep the payment confirmation.
- Download the admit card from your portal dashboard when it opens (from 17 April in 2026).

Bank charges may be extra. One application covers one programme; to apply for another you register again with a different email ID and pay again. Most tests run at the same time, so you can sit for only one programme’s test. B SDS is not filled through this form: it has a separate portal and uses JEE Main or CUET (UG) scores.

The test is used for the bachelor’s, master’s, M Tech, PG diploma and research fellowship programmes listed below; the centres and stipends are from the 2026-27 admission notice.

The MS (QMS) programme was renamed MS in Quality Management and Business Analytics, MS (QMBA), from 2026-27, and the PG Diploma in Statistical and Computational Genomics (PGDSCG) started the same year.
Who can apply for the ISI Admission Test 2027?
Indian citizens and OCI card holders who meet the programme’s minimum qualification can apply; the 2026 rules below are expected to continue for 2027.
- B Stat (Hons) and B Math (Hons): 10+2 or equivalent with Mathematics and English. The 2026 notice sets no age limit.
- M Stat, M Math, MS (QE), MS (QMBA) and MS (LIS): a bachelor’s degree of three or more years in any discipline.
- M Tech (CS) and M Tech (CrS): a 4-year BE or B Tech in any stream, or a master’s degree in any subject with Mathematics at 10+2.
- M Tech (QROR): a master’s in Statistics (with Physics and Chemistry at 10+2), a master’s in OR or Mathematics and Computing, or a BE or B Tech.
- JRFs: a master’s degree in the subject, as set out programme by programme in the admission notice.
- Final-year students can apply. In 2026 the qualifying exam had to be completed before 20 July 2026.
What is the ISI Admission Test 2027 exam pattern?
Most programmes have two pen-and-paper tests on the same day: an MCQ test answered on an OMR sheet from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM, and a descriptive (short answer) test from 2:00 to 4:00 PM.

These are the 2026 test codes. For B Stat and B Math, Test I (UGA) was marked out of 120 and Test II (UGB) out of 80, and in Group B of UGA a question may have more than one correct option. Topic lists are on the ISI syllabus page.
How does ISI select candidates after the test?
ISI ranks candidates on a composite score from the written tests and, for most master’s programmes, an interview.
- All Test I (MCQ) scripts are graded first. Only candidates above the Test I qualifying score have their Test II scripts graded.
- B Stat, B Math and MS (QE) have no interview. Most other programmes call shortlisted candidates for an interview.
- Programme-wise merit lists are then published, followed by online allocation rounds and physical admission.
- INMO awardees can join B Stat or B Math through interview alone (up to 5 seats each), and GATE qualifiers have a separate interview channel for the three M Tech programmes.
