The IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) 2027 is the national computer-based entrance test for BS-MS, BS and B.Tech admission at the seven IISERs, conducted by their Joint Admission Committee. Dates are not announced yet. Going by 2026, applications should open around March 2027 and the exam should be held in late May or June 2027.

How to Apply for IISER IAT 2027
You apply online on the IAT application portal linked from iiseradmission.in; there is no offline form, and each candidate submits only one application. In 2026 the portal was open from 5 March to 13 April 2026, with a correction window from 16 to 18 April 2026.
Apply Online for IISER IAT 2027
Applications for IISER IAT 2027 are expected in March 2027.
- Open iiseradmission.in and follow the IAT 2027 application link once the portal opens (expected March 2027).
- Register with your own or a parent’s email ID and mobile number. Your User ID (application number) and password are sent to them.
- Log in and fill in your personal, category and Class 12 (or diploma) details, and choose several exam cities.
- Upload your photo and signature (up to 200 KB each), photo ID, Class 10 and Class 12 marksheets and any category or PwD certificate (200 KB to 1 MB each).
- Pay the application fee online and submit the form. Your category cannot be changed after submission, not even in the correction window.
If your Class 12 result is not out yet, upload the signed declaration form in place of the marksheet. In 2026 the actual marksheet had to be uploaded by 21 June 2026.

The fee is non-refundable. The IAT 2027 fee will be confirmed in the 2027 information brochure.
Who can apply for IISER IAT 2027?
You can apply if you have passed, or are appearing in, Class 12 or a 3-year diploma with the required subjects and marks. The rules below are from the IAT 2026 brochure; the IAT 2027 rules will come with its own brochure.
- Nationality: Indian nationals, OCI/PIO card holders and foreign nationals can apply.
- Qualifying exam: Class 12 from a COBSE-recognised board, or a diploma of at least 3 years from an AICTE, COBSE or state technical board.
- Passing year: for IAT 2026, only those who passed in 2024 or 2025 or were appearing in 2026 were eligible. On that pattern, IAT 2027 should accept those passing in 2025, 2026 or 2027.
- Subjects: at least three of Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics for BS-MS. Mathematics is compulsory for the BS-MS in Computational and Data Sciences (IISER Kolkata), the B.Tech and BS Economic Sciences (IISER Bhopal) and the BS Economic and Statistical Sciences (IISER Tirupati).
- Marks: at least 60% aggregate across all subjects of the qualifying exam, or 55% for SC, ST and PwD candidates.
What is the IISER IAT 2027 exam pattern?
IAT is a 3-hour computer-based test of 60 multiple-choice questions, 15 each from Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics, set in English and Hindi. Past papers on the IAT question papers page follow the same format.

Which institutes admit students through IISER IAT 2027?
IAT is the only admission channel for the seven IISERs, and a few other institutes use its ranks too. The tentative 2026 seat matrix had 2,343 seats, including supernumerary seats.

IISc Bengaluru (BS Research), IIT Madras (BS), IIT Guwahati (BS in Biomedical Science and Engineering), IACS Kolkata (BS-MS) and IIEST Shibpur (BS-MS) also used IAT 2026. To join them you must apply for IAT and also apply separately to that institute.
How does admission work after the IAT 2027 result?
After the result you fill in an IISER programme preference form online, and offers are made in rounds based on your rank, category, preferences and the seats left.
- The preference form has no fee, and the whole counselling is online; you do not visit any IISER until you join.
- When you get an offer, you pay the Seat Acceptance Fee of Rs 35,000 (Rs 17,500 for SC/ST), which is adjusted against the first-semester fee.
- After paying, choose Freeze to keep the seat or Float to stay in later rounds for a higher preference.
- Rejecting an offer, or missing the deadline, ends your part in counselling.
- In 2026 there were nine offer rounds, from 24 July to 11 September 2026.
