How to Use IISER IAT Previous Year Papers?
- You get 3 minutes a question. 60 questions in 180 minutes is generous, so IAT rewards accuracy more than speed. Aim for about 45 minutes per subject and use the spare time to recheck calculations.
- Know what a guess is worth. With +4 and −1, a blind guess among four options averages +0.25 marks. Ruling out one option raises that to about +0.67, and ruling out two to +1.5.
- Start with 2023, 2024 and 2025. They follow the current 60-question CBT format. The 2023 PDF marks the correct option under every English question, so score that one first.
- Do not skip Biology. Every paper opens with 15 Biology questions worth 60 marks. If you dropped Biology after Class 10, practise its easier questions from these papers.
- Plan for May or June 2027. About seven months remain. One paper every two weeks covers all eight full papers before the test, with time to redo the newest three.
IISER IAT Previous Year Question Papers FAQs
What is the IISER IAT exam pattern?
IAT is a 3-hour computer-based test of 60 multiple-choice questions, 15 each from Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics, for 240 marks.
Is there negative marking in IISER IAT?
Yes. A correct answer gets +4, a wrong answer loses 1 mark and an unanswered question gets 0.
Are IISER IAT papers available in Hindi?
Yes. The 2019 and 2021 pages have separate Hindi papers, and the 2022 and 2023 PDFs carry the English and Hindi versions together. IAT itself is set in English and Hindi.
Which IISER IAT papers have answers?
The 2023 paper marks the correct option under every English question. The 2026 page has the provisional and final keys in English and Hindi, but not the 2026 paper. Other years have no key.
Is there an IAT 2020 question paper?
No. The papers here are from 2017 to 2019 and 2021 to 2025.
Did everyone take IAT in 2019?
No. In 2019 only students applying through the State and Central Boards (SCB) channel took IAT; KVPY and JEE Advanced candidates did not. For 2026, the brochure made IAT the only channel of admission.
When is IISER IAT 2027?
IISER IAT 2027: May 2027 (expected). Application: March 2027 (expected). See the IISER IAT 2027 page for every date.
