FAQs – INI SS Syllabus 2026

What is the INI SS Syllabus 2026 based on?

The INI SS Syllabus 2026 is based on the post-MD / MS super-specialty curriculum and is divided into two sections: General Biomedical Sciences (common to all) and Specialty-specific (per chosen DM, M.Ch., or MD-HA discipline). AIIMS does not publish a separate subject-wise syllabus, so candidates rely on standard super-specialty textbooks and recent guidelines.

What sections does the INI SS Stage I paper have?

The INI SS Stage I paper has 80 MCQs split between two sections: a General Biomedical Sciences section covering applied anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pathology, pharmacology, microbiology, biostatistics, research methodology, and recent advances; and a Specialty-specific section tailored to the chosen DM, M.Ch., or MD (Hospital Administration) course.

Which books should I refer to for preparation?

Recommended super-specialty textbooks (specialty-dependent) include Braunwald (Cardiology), Adams & Victor (Neurology), Brenner & Rector (Nephrology), Sleisenger & Fordtran (GI), Williams (Endocrinology), DeVita (Oncology), Sabiston / Schwartz (Surgery), Campbell-Walsh (Urology), and Greenberg (Neurosurgery). Is there negative marking in INI SS 2026?

Yes, there is negative marking in Stage I of INI SS 2026. Each correct answer carries 1 mark and 1/3 mark (0.33) is deducted for each wrong answer. The official prospectus at aiimsexams.ac.in mentions that the exam covers General Biomedical Sciences plus the Specialty-specific area for the chosen DM / M.Ch. / MD-HA course. Candidates should refer to the standard super-specialty textbooks and recent guidelines for their parent specialty and chosen super-specialty.

How long should I take to complete the syllabus?

Spend 4-5 months on a thorough first revision of the chosen super-specialty topics, 3-4 months on a second focused revision with MCQ practice and case discussions, and the final 1-2 months on mock tests, previous year papers, and rapid revisions of high-yield areas.
