The INI SS 2026 examination for the July 2026 session was conducted by AIIMS New Delhi on April 25, 2026 (Stage I, online CBT). The Institute of National Importance Super-Specialty Entrance Test is a prestigious National level Medical entrance exam for admission to DM, M.Ch., and MD (Hospital Administration) courses at 22 Institutes of National Importance – AIIMS New Delhi and other AIIMS, PGIMER Chandigarh, JIPMER Puducherry, NIMHANS Bengaluru, and SCTIMST Trivandrum. What is the INI SS entrance exam?

The INI SS stands for Institute of National Importance Super-Specialty Entrance Test. Organized biannually by AIIMS New Delhi, it is the National level Medical entrance exam for admission to DM (Doctorate of Medicine), M.Ch. (Master of Chirurgiae), and MD (Hospital Administration) programmes at 22 INIs – AIIMS New Delhi and other new AIIMS, PGIMER Chandigarh, JIPMER Puducherry, NIMHANS Bengaluru, and SCTIMST Trivandrum. The exam follows a two-stage process: a computer-based Stage I (80 MCQs in 90 minutes) and a departmental Stage II clinical assessment (for AIIMS and PGIMER seats only). The July 2026 session Stage I was held on April 25, 2026.

Application Form – Apply Online

The application form for the July 2026 session was released by AIIMS New Delhi on March 30, 2026 at aiimsexams.ac.in. Candidates completed online registration with personal, academic, and contact details, uploaded scanned photograph, signature, MD/MS or MBBS degree certificate, registration certificate from NMC / SMC, and paid the application fee online. The last date to apply was April 13, 2026. The fee was INR 4,000 (non-refundable) and PwBD candidates were exempted. Login credentials remain valid for Stage II assessments and counselling.

Things to Remember Before Applying

If you plan to appear in the next INI SS session (January 2027), here are key things to remember.

  • Eligibility Assessment: Candidates for DM / M.Ch. must hold an MD / MS degree from an NMC-recognised institution. MD (Hospital Administration) requires an MBBS degree. Permanent or provisional registration with NMC / SMC is essential.
  • Document Confirmation: Gather scanned copies of recent passport-size photograph, signature, left thumb impression, MD / MS / MBBS degree and mark sheets, internship and registration certificates, and category certificates (where applicable).
  • Payment Readiness: Keep your debit card, credit card, or net banking ready to pay the application fee (INR 4,000; PwBD exempt). No hard copies are accepted – only online submission via aiimsexams.ac.in.
