Is JAC Delhi an exam? How is it linked to JEE Main?

No. JAC Delhi is only a counselling and seat allotment process. You need a rank in JEE Main 2027, and JAC Delhi matches that rank, your category and your region with the choices you fill. There is no JAC Delhi syllabus, admit card or answer key.

Who can apply for JAC Delhi 2027?

You can apply if you have a JEE Main 2027 rank and meet the Class 12 marks rule of the programme. The 2026 brochure set these conditions:

  • B.Tech at NSUT, DTU, IGDTUW and DSEU (and the IGDTUW dual degree): at least 60% in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics together, English passed, and a pass in every other subject, plus a JEE Main Paper 1 rank.
  • Relaxed marks at these four: 55% for OBC-NCL and Defence (CW), 50% for SC, ST and PwD. There is no relaxation for EWS.
  • B.Tech at IIIT-Delhi: at least 70% in the best five subjects including PCM, with at least 70% in Mathematics (65% for OBC-NCL, CW and PwD; 60% for SC and ST).
  • B.Arch at NSUT and IGDTUW: 45% in Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English, or a 10+3 diploma with Mathematics with 45%, plus a JEE Main Paper 2 rank.
  • Class 12 from CBSE, CISCE or an equivalent board. Candidates placed in compartment in the same year are not eligible. There is no age limit.

85% of seats are for Delhi region candidates and 15% for outside Delhi. Your region depends on where your school or college for Class 12 is located, not on domicile. For NIOS and Patrachar Vidyalaya students, the location of the exam centre decides it. IGDTUW admits women only.

How many seats are there in JAC Delhi?

In 2026, JAC Delhi allotted 7,765 engineering seats at the five universities and 90 B.Arch seats at NSUT and IGDTUW. The 2027 seat matrix will be in the new brochure.

Reservation (2026 brochure)Share
Scheduled Caste (SC)15%
Scheduled Tribe (ST)7.5%
OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)27%
EWS10%
Defence (CW) and Persons with Disabilities (PD)5% each, within every main category
Kashmiri Migrants and Single Girl Child (DTU, IGDTUW)Supernumerary seats over the normal intake

To claim a Delhi region SC, ST or OBC seat, the certificate must be issued by the Government of NCT of Delhi and in your own name. In 2026, EWS certificates had to be issued after 31 March 2026, and an older OBC-NCL certificate needed a fresh non-creamy layer certificate.

How does JAC Delhi seat allotment work?

JAC Delhi ran four online rounds, an upgradation round and a physical spot round in 2026. After each round, a candidate who gets a seat for the first time must pay the Rs 95,000 seat acceptance fee online and report in person at the allotted institute for document verification. Skipping either step cancels the seat and drops you from the later online rounds.

  • Float (default): you keep the seat and stay in line for a higher choice in later rounds.
  • Freeze: you keep the seat and leave all later upgradation. A frozen seat cannot be unfrozen.
  • Upgrade: if a higher choice opens up, you move automatically and do not need to report again.
  • Withdraw: done online only, through your JAC Delhi login. You can still join the spot round.

Round results and reporting steps are on the JAC Delhi 2027 seat allotment page.

What are IIIT-Delhi bonus points?

IIIT-Delhi ranks candidates by JEE Main Paper 1 percentile plus up to 2 bonus points, not by CRL rank alone. Only your single highest bonus category counts. Examples from the 2026 brochure:

  • 2 points: selected for an International Olympiad training camp, or FIDE chess rating above 1800.
  • 1 point: qualified for INMO, INPhO, INChO, INAO, INBO or INOI, or FIDE rating between 1200 and 1800.
  • 1 point: girl candidates with 90% aggregate and 95% in PCM in Class 12.
  • 1 point: National Talent Search scholarship, or state representation in national school games or a national championship.

You claim bonus points in the registration form and upload proof. In 2026, those claims were verified in person at NSUT a day after registration closed.

What documents do you need for JAC Delhi 2027?

Bring originals and self-attested copies when you report at the allotted institute. The 2026 list was:

  • Seat acceptance fee receipt and seat allotment letter printout
  • JAC Delhi registration form signed by you and a parent or guardian, and the printout of locked choices
  • JEE Main admit card and scorecard
  • Class 12 marksheet and Class 10 certificate (date of birth proof)
  • Category or sub-category certificate, and bonus point proof for IIIT-Delhi
  • Medical fitness certificate in the brochure format and three passport-size photographs

JAC Delhi 2027 FAQs

Do I need to register separately for JAC Delhi if I registered for JoSAA?
Yes. JAC Delhi and JoSAA are separate counselling processes with separate portals and fees. Register on jacdelhi.admissions.nic.in for NSUT, DTU, IGDTUW, IIIT-Delhi and DSEU seats.
Am I a Delhi region candidate if I live in Delhi but passed Class 12 elsewhere?
No. JAC Delhi decides your region by where you passed the qualifying exam. If your Class 12 school was outside Delhi, you compete for the 15% outside Delhi seats.
Can I change my JAC Delhi choices after registration closes?
No. In 2026 choices could be added or edited only during the two registration windows (28 May to 9 June and 26 to 28 June). Fill every choice you would accept.
Is the JAC Delhi registration fee refundable?
No. The Rs 1,500 registration-cum-counselling fee is not refunded. Only the Rs 95,000 seat acceptance fee is refunded, minus Rs 1,000, if you withdraw online before the deadline.
Can I get an IIIT-Delhi seat with a lower JEE Main rank?
Possibly. IIIT-Delhi uses your JEE Main percentile plus up to 2 bonus points, so a valid bonus claim can lift you above candidates with a better rank.
