PU BA / B.Com LLB 2027, also called PU UGLAW, is the entrance test Panjab University, Chandigarh holds for its 5-year BA LLB (Hons) and B.Com LLB (Hons) courses at UILS Chandigarh, UIL Ludhiana and UILS Hoshiarpur. It is a 100-question OMR test held only in Chandigarh. Dates are not out yet; the test is expected in April 2027.

Panjab University has not announced the 2027 schedule yet, so the dates below are expected months based on 2026, when the prospectus came out on 3 March and the test was held on 26 April. PU had first fixed the 2026 test for 4 January 2026 before moving it to April, so keep checking the official website from late 2026.

How to Apply for PU BA / B.Com LLB 2027

You apply for PU BA / B.Com LLB 2027 online at uglaw.puchd.ac.in, where Panjab University publishes the prospectus and entrance test form, expected in March 2027. The steps and fee below follow the 2026 prospectus.

Register online at uglaw.puchd.ac.in and note down the login ID and password you get.
Log in and pay the entrance test fee online.
Upload your scanned photograph and signature, fill in the remaining details, then save and confirm the form. Nothing, including your category, can be changed after you submit.
SC, ST and PwD candidates claiming the lower fee send the form printout with a self-attested category certificate to the Assistant Registrar, CET Cell, Aruna Ranjit Chandra Hall, Panjab University, Chandigarh-160014 by the notified date.
Download your admit card from your login when it is released.

The fee is not refunded, and filling two forms cancels your candidature. If your online payment is not confirmed within 24 hours, email [email protected]. In 2026 the deadlines for registration, fee payment and upload were extended to 16 April.

How to log in to the PU BA / B.Com LLB 2027 candidate portal?

You use the uglaw.puchd.ac.in login to complete the entrance test form and pay the fee, download your admit card and, after the result, fill and lock the admission form and see how your merit score was worked out.

Open the official PU UGLAW website. The 2027 login opens there with the next registration, expected in March 2027.
Click Login in the main menu.
Enter the login ID and password generated when you registered.
Before the test, finish your form, pay the fee and download the admit card from your account.
After the result, fill the admission form section by section (category, Class 12 subjects, weightages, documents) and lock each section. A locked section cannot be changed.
Print the admission form and send it with the required documents to the address on the printout.

Forgot your password? Use the Forgot your password link on the login page. You must enter your name, date of birth, mobile number and email ID exactly as you gave them in the form, or the password will not be recovered.

Who can apply for PU BA / B.Com LLB 2027?

You can take the test if you have passed Class 12 (10+2) from a recognised board, or are appearing in it in 2027. For admission you need at least 50% marks in Class 12, or 45% if you are SC, ST, BC or PwD.

If you are appearing in Class 12, your candidature is cancelled if you fail, get a reappear or score below the required percentage.
Class 12 passed through distance or correspondence study is accepted.
Class 12 obtained directly through an open university without the basic qualification is not accepted, as per Bar Council of India rules.
Class 12 from Mahila Gram Vidyapith, Allahabad is not recognised by Panjab University.
You must take the entrance test in the year you seek admission. Qualifying it does not by itself give you a seat.

Which colleges and how many seats does PU BA / B.Com LLB 2027 cover?

One test fills 480 regular seats across three Panjab University campuses, plus a few extra seats for a single girl child or one of two girl children (SGC/OGC). B.Com LLB (Hons) is offered only at UILS Chandigarh.

Reserved seats include 15% for SC, 7.5% for ST, 5% for BC and 3.5% for NRI candidates, with 5% horizontal reservation for PwD. Smaller quotas such as Defence, Freedom Fighter, Sports and wards of PU employees have their own merit lists.

What is the PU BA / B.Com LLB 2027 exam pattern?

PU BA / B.Com LLB is a 90-minute OMR test of 100 multiple choice questions for 100 marks, with a quarter mark cut for each wrong answer. This is the 2026 pattern, which is expected to continue. See the PU BA / B.Com LLB 2027 syllabus for what each part covers.

The split has changed over the years: the 2023 prospectus gave 60 questions to General Knowledge and 20 to law. Solve recent PU BA / B.Com LLB previous year question papers to see the current level. Classes are taught only in English. PwD candidates get 30 minutes extra.

How is the PU BA / B.Com LLB 2027 merit list made?

Your final merit score gives equal weight to the entrance test and Class 12: 50% comes from your test marks and 50% from your Class 12 percentage, plus any weightage you are allowed.

To enter the preliminary merit list you need at least 15% marks in the test (10% for SC, ST, BC and PwD).
For B.Com LLB (Hons), each passed commerce subject from the official list adds a weightage of 4, up to 16.
NCC, NSS and similar weightages are added as per the Panjab University Handbook of Information.
Ties are broken by the higher Class 12 percentage, then the higher Class 10 percentage, then the older candidate.
Seats are filled in person at counselling, by merit and category.

Can I apply for both BA LLB and B.Com LLB with one PU entrance test?

Yes. Candidates who qualify the test and pass Class 12 are eligible for both courses, and you mark attendance separately for each at counselling.

Is the PU BA / B.Com LLB test held outside Chandigarh?

No. The test is held only in Chandigarh. In 2026 counselling was also held in Chandigarh, except for UIL Ludhiana seats, which had counselling at Ludhiana.

How much is the fee for BA LLB at UILS Chandigarh?

In 2026 the first semester fee at UILS was Rs 82,825 for Class 12 from CBSE, ICSE or the Punjab, Haryana and Himachal boards, and Rs 83,985 for other boards, plus Rs 9,300 department funds and Rs 250 library security.

How is PU BA / B.Com LLB different from PU LLB?

PU BA / B.Com LLB is the 5-year integrated course after Class 12, applied for at uglaw.puchd.ac.in. PU LLB is the 3-year course for graduates, with a separate test at pglaw.puchd.ac.in.

Can I get a PU BA / B.Com LLB seat without the entrance test?

No. The prospectus says no candidate is eligible for admission to the first semester unless they appear in and qualify the entrance test of that year.
