TNEA 2018 stands for Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions 2018. The admission process is held under the supervision of Anna University. This admission process is conducted annually to grant admission to candidates in the various Departments and Constituent Colleges of Anna University, Government and Government Aided Engineering Colleges and for the seats surrendered by Self-Financing Engineering Colleges across the state of Tamil Nadu. The registration process for the TNEA 2018 admission process is expected to commence from the 1st week of May 2018.

Candidates who are interested in being a part of the TNEA 2018 admission process need to register themselves for the process before the last scheduled date. They can do so by sending their duly filled online application form enclosed with the required documents to admissions department of the Anna University. Eligibility Criteria for TNEA 2018

It is necessary that the candidate goes through the information brochure before they register themselves for the admission process. As, if the candidates fail to fulfil the eligibility criterias laid down by the university then they will be disqualified from the admission process.We have listed a few of the criterias for the reference of the candidates.

Qualifying Examinations

Candidates have to qualify their higher secondary education examination and they must have Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as their compulsory subjects. They must have completed their HSC from a recognised board. The category wise minimum marks is listed below in the table for your reference.

Detailed Process For TNEA 2018

Since, the admission process for TNEA 2018 can be really confusing for certain students. Hence, to make the process of admission much more easier to understand we have listed the breakdown of the admission process below for the reference of the candidates.

Registration/ Applying

Candidates who wish to appear in the TNEA 2018 admission process need to register themselves for the process. They can do so by registering online through the TNEA 2018 application form. They need to fill in all the details and take a printout of the the application form and submit it along with the necessary documents. The application fees for the candidates belonging to the general category is expected to be Rs.500/- and the application fees for the candidates belonging to the reserved categories will be nearly Rs.250/-.

Allocation Of Random Number

Once, the registration process is over the official examination body i.e. Anna University will scrutinize all the applications and all the eligible candidates who have successfully registered themselves for the process will be assigned random numbers. These numbers will serve as an unique code and cannot be reproduced under any given situation. This number will also serve as a tie breaking criteria during the rank calculation. However, it will only be used if the marks of Mathematics, Physics, and Fourth options subjects will not be sufficient to break the tie.

Publishing Of Merit List

Candidates will now be allotted ranks on the basis of their class 12 scores. This merit list will be prepared on the basis of the total marks of 200 ( Maths – 100 & Physics + Chemistry- 100). Once, the merit list is prepared successfully. The list will be published on the official website of TNEA.

Counselling

Candidates will now be called for the multiple counseling sessions as per the merit list. The seats will be allocated to the students on the basis of their rank and choice. The better the rank of the candidate, the more will be chances of getting admission in desired course and college.
