TNEA 2018 stands for Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions 2018. The admission process is held under the supervision of Anna University. This admission process is conducted annually to grant admission to candidates in the various Departments and Constituent Colleges of Anna University, Government and Government Aided Engineering Colleges and for the seats surrendered by Self-Financing Engineering Colleges across the state of Tamil Nadu. The registration process for the TNEA 2018 admission process commence from May 03, 2018.

Candidates who are interested in being a part of the TNEA 2018 admission process need to register themselves for the process before the last scheduled date. They can do so by sending their duly filled online application form enclosed with the required documents to admissions department of the Anna University. Eligibility Criteria for TNEA 2018

It is necessary that the candidate goes through the information brochure before they register themselves for the admission process. As, if the candidates fail to fulfill the eligibility criteria laid down by the university then they will be disqualified from the admission process.We have listed a few of the criteria for the reference of the candidates.

Qualifying Examinations

Candidates have to qualify their higher secondary education examination and they must have Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry as their compulsory subjects. They must have completed their HSC from a recognized board. The category wise minimum marks are listed below in the table for your reference.

Application Process For TNEA 2018

A Candidate seeking admission to first year B.E/ B. Tech degree courses under unified Single Window Admission System [TNEA 2018] should apply online for the registration of his candidature on the website www.annauniv.edu from anywhere. For the convenience of candidates, TNEA Facilitation Centers (TFC) have been established in selected cities. Candidates can use the facilities available in TFCs. The candidate who satisfies the eligibility conditions as given in Section 3 of Information and Instructions to Candidates has to register his/her name by providing a username and password. The candidate has to remember his/her username and password for further login and fill-up the application.

The applicants have to register their applications through the official TNEA portal from anywhere through the Internet or use the TFC by paying the required registration fee through online. The applicants are required to pay a sum of Rs. 500/- (Rs.250/- for SC/SCA/ST) towards application registration. A data preparation sheet for application registration is designed for the applicants and will be made available in the portal as well as at the TFCs for the benefit of the applicants. The applicants are encouraged to fill this data sheet prior to accessing the portal through the internet or at TFCs for convenient and accurate data submission using the computer.

After application registration, all the applicants will be assigned a random number for breaking tie if it happens during the preparation of merit list.

Publishing Of Merit List

A merit list will be prepared based on the marks obtained in the relevant subjects, namely, Maths, Physics, and Chemistry which will be reduced to 200 (Maths – 100, Physics – 50 and Chemistry – 50). The overall rank is prepared based on the merit list with the defined procedure for the tie-break. The overall rank and community rank will be published in the official TNEA Web portal www.annauniv.edu or tnea.ac.in. A week is reserved for addressing applicants’ grievances after the publication of the rank. In case of grievances, applicants can contact the office of the Secretary, TNEA at Anna University, Chennai 600 025.

Counselling

The applicants will be grouped based on merit list into rounds and each group of applicants will be allowed into the counselling system round wise. Each round comprises of the following:

  • Publication of list of eligible applicants for the round.
  • Applicants were required to pay a sum of Rs.5000/- (Rs.1,000 for SC/SCA/ST) towards the initial deposit for college admission through online before adding choices (college and branch) in preference order. Three days are provided in each round for applicants to decide, add and lock choices.
  • The seats are then allotted tentatively based on the merit list and order of preference of choices provided by the applicant. The applicant can see the tentative allotment details in their respective login itself on the next day
  • Applicants are required to confirm the tentative allotment by exercising any of the allotment options provided to them within the next two days. Applicants, who could not be allotted based on merit list and choices, may opt to participate in the next round.
  • After receiving the allotment options from the applicants of a round the final allotment will be done.
  • Applicants who were not allotted in the current round or those who opted to participate in the next round can do so accordingly. Others shall join in the respective college and branch that was allotted to them within the stipulated time period.

The TFCs will provide the required support and guidance to the applicants for the TNEA process. Also, it will provide internet-enabled computer facilities for all applicants, wherein the Government will bear the expenses. The applicant will use such TFCs to complete the different stages like registration of applications, providing college preferences and collection of allotment orders. TFC will start functioning after the TNEA schedule notification.

The special counselling like Eminent Sportspersons, Differently Abled Person, Vocational, SC-SCA, and Supplementary will be held as in-person counselling at Chennai. Original certificate verification for eminent sportspersons will also be held at Chennai only. SMS and email alerts to the applicants in their registered ids will be sent during each stage of counselling. All information regarding TNEA Counselling 2018 will be released through the official TNEA portal at tnea.ac.in or annauniv.edu only.
