The JU Evening BE syllabus 2027 (JEEDEC) is diploma-level and different for each branch: Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. Jadavpur University’s latest brochure (2024-25) lists the topics for its 50-question entrance test. Use it to prepare until the 2027-28 notice, which will also say whether a test is held.

What is the JU Evening BE 2027 exam pattern and marking?
Each branch writes its own 50-question MCQ paper of 100 marks, marked on an OMR sheet. The figures below are from 2024, the last year a test was held.
| Feature | Details (2024) |
|---|---|
| Questions | 50 MCQs on your branch syllabus |
| Marking | +2 for a correct answer, -0.5 for a wrong one |
| Multiple options | Treated as not answered |
| Duration | 1 hour 30 minutes |
| Mode | Offline, OMR sheet, at TEQIP Building, JU Main Campus |
Older papers were longer: the JEEDEC 2017 and 2018 papers allowed 2 hours for the same 50 questions and 100 marks.
Where is the official JU Evening BE syllabus PDF?
The syllabus is Annexure 4 of JU’s information brochure. No 2027-28 brochure has been published yet.
- JEEDEC 2023 syllabus (PDF): the same branch-wise syllabus from the 2023 brochure.
How to Prepare for the JU Evening BE 2027 Test
Revise your own diploma subjects, because every question comes from your branch’s diploma syllabus.
- Solve the JEEDEC previous year question papers for 2017, 2018 and 2022 to see the question style.
- Work without a calculator, since none is allowed in the hall.
- Answer only when reasonably sure: each wrong answer costs 0.5 mark against 2 marks for a right one.
- Diploma-level books students commonly use include B.L. Theraja (Electrical Technology), R.K. Bansal (Strength of Materials, Fluid Mechanics), B.C. Punmia (Surveying) and R.S. Khurmi (Theory of Machines).
