The NIMCET 2027 syllabus has four sections: Mathematics, Analytical Ability and Logical Reasoning, Computer Awareness and General English. Mathematics carries 600 of the 1,000 marks. The topics below are from the official NIMCET 2026 brochure; the 2027 brochure, expected in March 2027, will confirm any change.

What is the NIMCET 2027 Mathematics syllabus?
Mathematics (Part I, 50 questions) covers six areas at the level of Class 12 and a mathematics-based degree.
- Set theory and logic: sets, union, intersection, difference, symmetric difference, Cartesian product, cardinality, functions and relations, Venn diagrams, truth tables, connectives, tautology and contradiction.
- Probability and statistics: basic probability, dependent and independent events, Bayes’ theorem, mean, median, mode, mean deviation, standard deviation, variance, moments and frequency distributions.
- Algebra: quadratic equations, relation between roots and coefficients, indices, logarithms, exponentials, AP, GP and HP, sums of powers of natural numbers, matrices and determinants, simultaneous linear equations, permutations and combinations, binomial theorem.
- Coordinate geometry: distance and section formulae, straight lines, pair of straight lines, circle, parabola, ellipse and hyperbola, tangents and normals.
- Calculus: limits, continuity, intermediate value theorem, differentiation and its applications, maxima and minima, Rolle’s theorem, mean value theorem, integration by parts, substitution and partial fractions, definite integrals and area.
- Trigonometry: trigonometric functions and identities, inverse trigonometric functions, properties and solution of triangles, heights and distances, trigonometric equations.
What is in the NIMCET Analytical Ability and Logical Reasoning section?
Part II (40 questions) tests verbal, non-verbal, deductive and inductive reasoning.
- Blood relations, coding-decoding, direction test and seating arrangement
- Puzzles, input-output, syllogism and alphanumeric series
- Mirror images, statements and conclusions or arguments
- Problem solving, critical thinking and numerical reasoning
- Data interpretation, data sufficiency and data visualisation
What is in the NIMCET Computer Awareness and English sections?
Part III has 20 Computer Awareness questions and 10 General English questions, answered in one 20-minute block.
- Computer basics: organisation of a computer, CPU and instruction structure, input and output devices, memory and backup devices.
- Data representation: characters, integers and fractions, binary and hexadecimal, binary arithmetic, two’s complement, floating point numbers, Boolean algebra.
- Hardware and software: keyboards, printers, hard drives, SSDs, RAM, ROM and cache; operating systems, utility programs, device drivers and application software.
- Internet and email: how the internet works, browsing, managing email and basic online safety.
- General English: reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar and sentence forms, word formation, meanings of words and phrases, and technical writing.
How are marks given in NIMCET 2027?
Each section has its own marks per question and a 25% penalty for a wrong answer. Unanswered questions get zero. Each part has a fixed time, and the next part opens only when the time for the current part is over.

A candidate who scores zero or negative marks in Mathematics, or in total, is not given a rank.

How to Prepare for the NIMCET 2027 Syllabus
- Give most of your time to Mathematics. It carries 600 marks and is the first tie-breaker in the rank list.
- Practise speed for Part I: 50 questions in 70 minutes leaves under a minute and a half per question.
- Revise binary arithmetic, two’s complement and Boolean algebra for Computer Awareness; these are scoring and quick.
- Avoid blind guesses, because every wrong answer loses a quarter of the question’s marks.
- Solve full papers under the three fixed time blocks. The NIMCET previous year question papers are the best practice material.
