There is no sample paper for Biology: TIFR says the JGEEBILS test covers basics only in physics, chemistry, maths and biology. Its current Biology test instructions explain the format.

What do the TIFR GS sample papers contain?

The sample papers are short. They show the question style rather than a full-length test.

  • Physics: the syllabus areas and a set of sample multiple-choice questions.
  • Chemistry: a one-page syllabus with sample questions, and a reminder that wrong answers carry negative marks.
  • Mathematics: the two-stage selection process, the Stage I syllabus and sample multiple-choice and true/false questions.
  • Computer & Systems Sciences: the test instructions and sample questions for both parts.

Some rules have changed since GS-2023. Then you could attempt only one of the Computer Science and Systems Science parts; now Systems Science is called LIDS and you may attempt both. Check the latest rules on the TIFR GS 2027 syllabus page.

How should I use the TIFR GS sample papers?

  1. Read the syllabus part of the PDF and mark the topics you have not studied.
  2. Solve the sample questions without a calculator in the Mathematics and Computer Science papers, as in the real test.
  3. Check which questions you got wrong and revise those topics from your BSc or MSc textbooks.
  4. Move on to full past papers in 3-hour sittings.
  5. Take TIFR’s official mock test to practise the online screen.

Where can I get real TIFR GS question papers?

Real papers show the full length and level of the test. Our TIFR GS previous year question papers page has subject-wise papers from 2015 to 2026.
