How is the CAT 2019 Result Prepared
The candidates can check here how the CAT 2019 result is compiled. Basically, the CAT 2019 Result is based on the raw scores of the candidates which are normalised later to get the CAT 2019 Scaled scores.
CAT 2019 raw score calculation: First the candidate’s marks are calculated in the exam. This is based on the number of correct answers and the number of wrong answers that they mark in the exam. The calculation of the raw score is done using the formula:
(Number of Correct MCQ Answers x 3) – (Number of Incorrect MCQ Answers x 1) + (Number of Correct TITA Answers x 3)
Normalization of CAT Scores: To rule out any differences in the level of difficulty across the CAT 2019 exam sessions, normalisation is done. Normalization formula for CAT exam is similar to the one adopted by IITs for GATE exam. However, the exact formula is not revealed by the IIMs.
Converting scaled Score to Percentile: After scaled scores, the percentile is calculated. Percentile rank scores represent how many candidates have scored less than or equal to the candidates in their test sessions. The formula for the same is:
(Number of candidates who scored less than or equal to you ÷ Total number of candidates who appeared in the exam) X 100.
CAT 2019 Cut Off Marks – How much you need to score to get into the top 10 IIMs
