GATE 2020 application could only be submitted online. Indian Institute of Technology only allowed candidates to apply for 1 subject paper, out of 25. Submitting multiple application forms is not allowed. The important dates for GATE 2020 application form were as follows:

GATE 2020 Eligibility Update
Candidate who registered after March 31, 2013, for certification of B.E./B.Tech/B.Arch from any of the professional societies (IE, ICE, IETE, AeSI, IIChemE, IIM, IIE, etc) but meets other eligibility criteria, are also eligible to apply for GATE 2020. GATE 2020 Application Fee and Late Fee Amount

Problem in getting OTP for GATE 2020 Registration
If you are having trouble getting OTP, then do not worry. Follow these steps below:
#1. Proceed to payment by verifying your either email id or mobile number.
#2. Once you get the OTP later, verify the mobile number or email ID whichever hasn’t been verified.
GATE official notice regarding this issue is as follows:
“Verification of your mobile number and email address through OTP is necessary for completion of GATE registration process. However, if there is a delay/problem in getting the OTP for verification, you may proceed for payment with the verification of your either email id or mobile number. You are still requested to verify your remaining one after completion of payment or in a later stage once you are able to get OTP.”

GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS)
Just as you create login for any social media account, you create account for GATE via GOAPS. It is basically a portal, from where candidates can apply, download admit card, check result, etc. To access GOAPS, you need to register by entering:
- Name
- Email ID
- Country
- Mobile Number
- Set Password
After registration, you get enrollment id and password. By entering these, you can access GOAPS. Password, should be strong and must contain 1 lower case, 1 upper case, 1 special character ($, %, &, # !), and a number.
– How to Apply for PSU via GATE 2020? –
The application process for PSU starts after the release of GATE admit card, i.e. in the month of January. Such is because, PSU demand roll number which is IIT discloses via admit card.
Each PSU releases individual application form on the respective official website. Candidates can apply for as many PSU’s as they, provided they fulfill the eligibility criteria of the recruitment.

– Do I Need to Apply For IITs or Filling GATE 2020 Application Form is Enough? –
– After the examination, candidates have to apply for IITs separately. Unlike CCMT for NITs, there is no centralized process for applying to Indian Institute of Technology.
– However, after the examination, IITs starts registration for COAP. It is a common portal through which candidates can check which seat, in which IIT, has been allocated to them.
How to Fill GATE 2020 Application Form – Step by step explanation

Step 1: Go to the official GATE 2020 Application website, and click on the “Click here to Apply” button. The candidate will be redirected to the registration page where after filling the following information, the candidate will receive an application number through SMS and Email:

- Exam Details: Here the candidates need to select the GATE paper and the choice of 3 GATE centers as per their preference.

The candidate must fill the choice of subject for GATE 2020 very carefully. And a choice of three cities for giving the exam.

- Necessary Documents: Here the candidates have to upload the scanned images. The candidate has to upload scanned copies of the following documents in specified size and formats, Candidate Photograph, Candidate Signature, and other Eligibility Document/certificates.

Step 4: The candidate must carefully Verify and Review the application form and then press the “submit and proceed to payment” button.
Step 5: The candidate should now select a mode of payment gateway- Debit Card/ Credit Card/ Internet Banking / UPI, and make the necessary payments.

Step 6: After a successful payment the candidate will now be redirected towards the application form, which is to be printed and kept carefully for any future references.
Details to be filled in the GATE 2020 Application Form
The candidates have to fill the following fields in the GATE 2020 Application Form, the candidates must ensure that the details are correct:
(A) Exam Details
- The candidate has to first select the subject they wish to appear GATE 2020 in.
- The country they will be giving the exam in.
- The choice of the state is for the candidates who will appear for the exam in India, the student must select three cities for the examination of their choice for the same.
- The first and second choices must be from the same GATE 2020 zone and the third choice can be from any GATE 2020 zone.

The candidate has to upload scanned copies of the following documents in specified size and formats:
- Candidate Photograph – must be in color with white background and taken after 01 August 2019
- Candidate Signature – after drawing a rectangular box of size 2 cm × 7 cm (Height × Width) on an A4 white paper, must be signed by the candidate with black or dark blue ink pen only.

GATE 2020 Application Form Correction
IIT provides an opportunity to make changes in the application form. The window for correction opens after the registration ends, at GOAPS. The important points to note about GATE form correction is that:
- It is only open for a limited period of time.
- You can only correct certain details via it.
- Correction fee might be applicable.
How to make changes?

Step 2: Application form opens with certain fields in editable format. Make the necessary changes in those fields, if any.
Step 3: Save the changes and make the extra fee payment.Step 4: take printout of the changed application form PDF.
GATE 2020 Application Form Last Date Extended
Earlier, the last date to apply for GATE 2020 with normal fee was September 24, 2019. However, the on the last day the GOAPS stopped working. Due to this a lot of candidates were not able to apply.
Hence, authorities extended the last date to apply with normal fee until September 26, 2019. Candidates can also apply after September 26 and until October 01, 2019, but will have to pay late fee of Rs. 500.

GATE 2020 Admit Card
The admit card is available for download at the official GOAPS website. The Admit Card contains important information like exam slot, date, time and venue. The candidate can access their admit card online through application number and password.
The candidate must carry a printed copy of the admit card on the day of the exam, along with a valid Government Id proof. These documents are mandatory for the candidates to be carried in the examination hall as they act as temporary proof of eligibility.
GATE 2020
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering GATE) is a national level entrance exam. One of the IITs is responsible to conduct the exam annually for admission in PG and doctoral level engineering courses offered by the IITs and the IISc. GATE 2020 is being conducted by IIT Delhi. The exam is held in the CBT mode across 209 cities in the nation and abroad.
GATE 2020 scores remain valid for the years 2020, 2021 and 2022. The candidates can use the score for admission in the course of their choice or they can apply for PSU recruitment too via the score. The candidates can apply in the PSUs like BHEL, NTPC, ONGC, COAL India, GAIL, SAIL, etc.

Ans : No, there are talks that GATE will be a compulsory examination, which all engineering graduates will have to clear as an exist test. However, no decision has been taken by the AICTE regarding the same.

Ans : The candidates can apply in the online mode only. The candidates have to use their contact details to complete the registration and then fill in the online application form at GOAPS. To submit the application form the candidates need to make online payment of the requisite GATE 2020 Application Fee.
Ans : NO. One e-mail address can be used to submit only ONE application form. Candidates are discouraged to fill multiple application forms using different e-mail addresses. In GATE the candidates who do duplicacy of the application form are rejected from the process.

Only in cases where there are too many candidates opting for a certain city as their first choice, the other two choices become relevant. For candidates opting international centers, there will be only one choice (by default).
