After the evaluation of the answers, the raw marks obtained by a candidate are converted to a normalized GATE Score. The marks are calculated applying this formula.

GATE Score Formula

GATE 2018 Score Card Formula

  • Mij: is the actual marks obtained by the jth candidate in ith session
  • M̅tg: is the average marks of the top 0.1% of the candidates considering all sessions
  • Mqg: is the sum of mean and standard deviation marks of the candidates in the paper considering all sessions
  • M̅ti: is the average marks of the top 0.1% of the candidates in the ith session
  • Miq: is the sum of the mean marks and standard deviation of the ith session

For papers other than CE, CS, EC, EE and ME, actual marks are used to calculate the final score.
