How to Calculate Your GATE 2027 Marks

Add up your marks with the GATE marking scheme to estimate your raw score out of 100.

Question type	Correct	Wrong
1-mark MCQ	+1	-1/3
2-mark MCQ	+2	-2/3
MSQ	+1 or +2	0
NAT	+1 or +2	0

There is no partial credit in MSQs. For papers held in more than one session, raw marks are normalised before the GATE score is worked out, so your final marks may differ slightly from your own count.

How is the GATE score worked out from the key?

Your GATE score (out of 1000) maps your marks between the qualifying mark, which gets a score of 350, and the average of the top 0.1% (or top 10) candidates, which gets 900.

The general category qualifying mark is the higher of 25 and the mean plus standard deviation of all marks, capped at 40. See the GATE 2027 result page for category-wise qualifying marks.
