How to download GATE Admit Card 2018?

Step 1: Click on the link above. You will reach GOAPS that looks like the image shown below.

Step 2: Next, enter the details such as GATE 2018 enrollment ID or registered email ID, password and captcha. Submit the details by clicking on “Submit” button.

Step 3: The link for downloading the admit card will be displayed on the screen. Click on the link and download the admit card for GATE 2018. Take 2-3 print out of the Hall Ticket/Admit Card in color in A4 size paper.

How To Download GATE Admit Card 2018 If Forgotten Login Details?

In case if the candidate does not remember the login credential, follow the instructions given below:

  1. On the login page of GOAPS, click on the button ‘Forgot Enrollment ID or Password?’
  2. In the next window, two options will be provided.
  3. If you remember the Enrollment ID/Email Address, but forgotten Password, click on “Request for an OTP” to get One Time Password.
  4. If you already have an OTP, click on “Already have an OTP?” to reset the password.
  5. Submit the details.

Are black and white printouts of admit card allowed?

There is no hard and fast rule about this. However, it is necessary for photograph and signature to be clear and legible. The photograph is most clear and legible usually in color print. Therefore it is suggested to print GATE Admit Card 2018 in color rather than black and white.

Q. Can I change my exam center once the GATE 2018 Admit card has been issued to me?

A. The exam center once allotted to the candidate will be final and can not be changed. Moreover, any request in this regard will not be accepted.

Q. Will I receive the admit card for GATe 2018 by post?

A. The candidate will not receive the admit card by post or by any other medium. It is the sole responsibility of the candidate to download it online from GOAPS and bring a hard copy of it on the day of the examination.

Q. Is digital copy fo the GATE Admit Card allowed or do I have to bring the colored print out of admit card?

A. No, the Softcopy of GATE 2018 Admit Card in Mobile Phones is not accepted for verification at the examination center. Bring a printout of the Admit Card (preferably in color) along with Original Photo ID.

Q. What items are not permitted to be brought with me inside the examination venue?

A. The following items are disbarred inside the examination center:

  1. No physical calculator will be allowed inside the examination hall.
  2. Mobile Phones, electronic wrist watch
  3. Charts/Tables/Papers are also not allowed inside the examination center

Q. Will I be provided with any white paper for rough work and calculations during the test?

A. A scribble pad will be provided to the candidate that can be used to do the rough work. The candidate has to return the scribble pad after the examination is over.

Q. Am I allowed to leave the examination hall during the test?

A. Candidates will NOT be allowed to leave the examination hall for any reason during the test. Candidates are allowed to leave the computer laboratory where the exam will be conducted only after the closure of the test at the scheduled end of examination in a session.

Q. Can I use a physical calculator during the examination?
A. No, during the online GATE 2018 examination, all candidates will be provided with a virtual scientific calculator which has to be used to answer the questions. Mobile phones, physical calculators, wristwatches, or any other electronic items are not permitted inside the examination hall.

GATE 2018 Exam Pattern

The GATE paper consists of 85 marks subject-specific and General Aptitude (GA) section for 15 marks, both are compulsory. The duration of the examination is 180 minutes. The question paper consists of multiple choice questions (MCQ) and numerical answer type (NAT). Multiple choice type questions have four choices A, B, C, D, out of which only ONE is the correct answer.

Marking Scheme:

  1. All questions that are not attempted will result in zero marks.
  2. Wrong answers for multiple choice type questions (MCQ) will result in NEGATIVE marks.
  3. For multiple choice type questions, a wrong answer will result in a deduction of ⅓ marks for a 1-mark question and ⅔ marks for a 2-mark question.
  4. There is no negative marking for questions of numerical answer type (NAT).
