JEE Main 2027 question papers are in 13 languages, as per the JEE Main 2027 information bulletin: English, Hindi, Urdu and 10 regional languages. English is offered at every centre, Hindi and Urdu at all centres in India, and each regional language only in certain states. You choose the language in the application form and cannot change it later.

Which languages can I choose for JEE Main 2027?
You can choose from 13 question paper languages, as listed in the JEE Main 2027 information bulletin. Every paper other than English-only is bilingual: you get English plus the language you pick.

Centres outside India offer the paper in English only. A regional language is available only at centres in its listed states, so your exam cities must be in one of those states. The list is in section 2.2 of the JEE Main 2027 Information Brochure.
How does a bilingual JEE Main paper work?
Each question appears in English and in the language you chose, so you can read both versions side by side.
- If the two versions differ, the English version is final for evaluation.
- On the test screen you can switch the displayed language for the whole paper from the profile icon at the top right.
- You must answer in the same medium you chose in the application form.
- The marking is the same in every language: +4 for a correct answer and -1 for a wrong one, including numerical questions.
How do I choose the right language for JEE Main?
Choose the language you studied Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in, not simply your mother tongue. These checks help:
- Think about technical terms. If you learnt terms such as moment of inertia or equilibrium constant in English, the English version may be quicker to read even if your school medium was different.
- Check your study material. Most JEE books, mock tests and past papers are in English and Hindi, so practise in the language you will take the exam in.
- Try a real paper first. JEE Main 2021 papers in Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu and other languages are on the JEE Main 2021 question paper page.
- Match your cities. You can pick up to four exam cities, and for a regional language they should all be in a state where that language is offered.
- If you are unsure, pick English and Hindi or English only. The English text is always on screen and is the version used for evaluation.
How do I select the language in the JEE Main 2027 form?
You select the question paper language in the online application form on jeemain.nta.nic.in, along with your paper and exam cities. The JEE Main 2027 Session 1 form is open from 24 October to 22 November 2026, with a late-fee window from 23 to 26 November.
- Register on jeemain.nta.nic.in and log in with your application number and password.
- Choose the paper or papers you want to take: B.E./B.Tech, B.Arch or B.Planning.
- Select the question paper language from the list.
- Choose up to four exam cities in a state where that language is offered.
- Check the language on the preview page before you pay the fee, then download the confirmation page.
The bulletin says the language option cannot be changed at a later stage, so do not count on the correction window to fix it. For dates, fee and eligibility, see the JEE Main 2027 page.
Can my exam city change because of the language I choose?
Yes, it can. If too few candidates choose a city with a regional language, NTA may allot a centre in another city, whatever cities you selected. NTA tries to allot one of your chosen cities, but it keeps the right to allot a different one. Choosing English and Hindi gives you the widest choice of centres.
