What is JEE Advanced 2026?
The JEE Advanced 2026 (Joint Entrance Examination – Advanced 2026) is the second-stage entrance examination for admission to Bachelor’s, Integrated Master’s, and Dual Degree programmes (entry at the 10+2 level) in all the 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) for the academic year 2026-27. JEE Advanced 2026 is being organised by IIT Roorkee under the guidance of the Joint Admission Board (JAB) 2026, in rotation among the seven zonal coordinating IITs (Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, Roorkee). The JEE Advanced 2026 examination consists of two mandatory papers (Paper 1 and Paper 2), each of three hours duration, in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. JEE Advanced 2026 is the gateway to undergraduate engineering, sciences, and architecture programmes at the IITs – among the most competitive admissions worldwide.

JEE Advanced 2026 Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for JEE Advanced 2026, candidates must satisfy ALL of the following criteria:
- Performance in JEE Main 2026: Candidate must be among the top 2,50,000 successful candidates (including all categories) in the B.E. / B.Tech. paper of JEE Main 2026.
- Age Limit: Candidate should have been born on or after 1 October 2001 (5 years relaxation for SC, ST, and PwD candidates – born on or after 1 October 1996).
- Number of Attempts: Maximum of two attempts in two consecutive years (JEE Advanced 2025 or earlier candidates who did not take admission may try again in 2026).
- Appearance in Class 12: Candidate must have appeared for the Class 12 (or equivalent) examination for the first time in 2025 or 2026.
- Class 12 Aggregate / Percentile: 75% aggregate marks in Class 12 (65% for SC / ST / PwD), OR be in the top 20 percentile of the respective board.
- Earlier Admission to IIT: Candidates should not have been admitted (regardless of accepting or not) to any IIT earlier through any mode, including preparatory course.
- Category Certificates: GEN-EWS / OBC-NCL certificates must be issued on or after 1 April 2026.

How to Apply for JEE Advanced 2026
The JEE Advanced 2026 registration process (closed on 5 May 2026) was conducted online at jeeadv.ac.in:
- Visit the official JEE Advanced 2026 portal at jeeadv.ac.in.
- Click on the “JEE Advanced 2026 Registration” link.
- Login using JEE Main 2026 Application Number and Password.
- Fill in personal, academic, and communication details.
- Choose 10 cities in order of preference from the IIT Roorkee zone or all-India list.
- Upload scanned documents: Photograph, Signature, Class 10 Certificate (for Date of Birth), Class 12 Marksheet, Category Certificate (issued on or after 1 April 2026), PwD UDID / Disability Certificate (if applicable).
- Pay the JEE Advanced 2026 application fee online (Net Banking / Debit Card / Credit Card / UPI / SBI MOPS).
- Submit the application form and download the confirmation page.

JEE Advanced 2026 Selection Process
The JEE Advanced 2026 selection process for IIT admission proceeds as follows:
- Stage 1 – JEE Main 2026: Qualify JEE Main 2026 and be among the top 2,50,000 successful candidates.
- Stage 2 – JEE Advanced 2026 Registration: Register online at jeeadv.ac.in (closed 5 May 2026).
- Stage 3 – JEE Advanced 2026 Exam: Appear for Paper 1 and Paper 2 on 17 May 2026.
- Stage 4 – Response Sheet & Answer Key: Verify responses (21 May 2026) and provisional answer key (25 May 2026); raise objections till 26 May 2026.
- Stage 5 – JEE Advanced 2026 Result: Final answer key and result declared on 1 June 2026.
- Stage 6 – AAT 2026 (for B.Arch aspirants): Register on 1-2 June, exam on 4 June, result on 7 June 2026 – required for B.Arch at IIT BHU Varanasi, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Roorkee.

JEE Advanced 2026 FAQs
JEE Advanced 2026 will be conducted on Sunday, 17 May 2026 by IIT Roorkee in two compulsory papers – Paper 1 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon IST and Paper 2 from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM IST. The exam will be held in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode at exam centres across India and select foreign cities.

JEE Advanced 2026 consists of two compulsory Computer-Based Tests (Paper 1 + Paper 2), each of 3 hours duration, on the same day – Paper 1 (9 AM – 12 Noon) and Paper 2 (2:30 PM – 5:30 PM IST). Both papers cover Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics with multiple question types – MCQs (single / multiple correct), numerical value, and matching list. Different question types carry different marking schemes including partial and negative marking. Medium is English or Hindi.
JEE Advanced 2026 final result and answer key will be declared on 1 June 2026 (Monday) at the official portal jeeadv.ac.in. Earlier, the response sheet will be released on 21 May 2026 and the provisional answer key on 25 May 2026, with the feedback / objection window open till 26 May 2026. The result will include the All India Rank (AIR), category-wise rank, subject-wise marks, and qualifying status.
All 23 IITs accept JEE Advanced 2026 scores for admission to their B.Tech, BS, Dual Degree, and B.Arch programmes. These include IIT Bombay, Delhi, Madras, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Roorkee (organising 2026), Guwahati, BHU, Dhanbad (ISM), Hyderabad, Indore, Mandi, Patna, Ropar, Bhubaneswar, Gandhinagar, Jodhpur, Tirupati, Palakkad, Goa, Bhilai, Dharwad, and Jammu. The Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT) 2026 is required only for candidates seeking admission to the B.Arch programme at IIT BHU Varanasi, IIT Kharagpur, and IIT Roorkee. Only JEE Advanced 2026 qualified candidates can register for AAT 2026 (1-2 June 2026); the AAT exam is on 4 June 2026 and the result on 7 June 2026. AAT is a 3-hour offline paper in English, and candidates must bring their own drawing and colouring aids.
