NExT refers to the National Exit Test. It is supposed to be held for the first time in either 2023, or 2024. Basically, NEXT Exam will be a common exam for all students who complete MBBS course from any NMC recognized medical college in India.
There will be two main uses of this National Exit Test – (1) you have to qualify NExT exam in order to clear your graduation and get certified as eligible to practice, so it will be a licentiate exam; and (2) score of NEXT test will be used to determine rank for PG medical admissions, so it will also be a Medical entrance exam.
So now National Medical Commission (NMC) will hold the exam for exiting MBBS and admission to Postgraduate Medical Education in Broad Medical Specialities in Medical Colleges in India. If you want to appear in NExT exam then you have to register as per application form availability and appear for the exam on scheduled exam date.
