WB JELET Syllabus 2026 – Paper I (Math/Phy/Chem/EEE) & Paper II

The WB JELET Syllabus 2026 has been released by WBJEEB in the Information Bulletin available at wbjeeb.nic.in. Candidates appearing in the West Bengal Joint Entrance Lateral Engineering Test on 13 June 2026 should refer to the prescribed topics for Paper I and Paper II to prepare effectively. Moreover, the question paper is set strictly from the topics listed in the official document. Therefore, an aspirant must complete every chapter listed and practise previous year question papers along with mock tests to score well in the offline OMR exam. What is the JELET Syllabus?

The syllabus is the official list of topics and chapters from which the question paper is set. Furthermore, it is divided into two papers: Paper I for Diploma in Engineering / Technology, B.Sc., D.Voc., and B.Voc. candidates; and Paper II for D.Pharm candidates. In addition, the contents are aligned with the qualifying course curriculum followed in West Bengal’s polytechnics and pharmacy institutes.

Paper I Syllabus Topics

Below is the topic-wise breakdown of the Paper I content. Candidates are advised to cover every topic listed in the Information Bulletin published by the board.

Mathematics:

  • Algebra: Sets, Relations and Functions, Complex Numbers, Quadratic Equations, Sequence and Series, Permutations and Combinations, Binomial Theorem, Logarithms.
  • Calculus: Limits, Continuity, Differentiation, Application of Derivatives, Indefinite and Definite Integrals, Application of Integrals, Differential Equations.
  • Coordinate Geometry: Straight Lines, Pair of Lines, Circles, Conic Sections (Parabola, Ellipse, Hyperbola).
  • Trigonometry: Trigonometric Functions, Identities, Equations, Inverse Trigonometric Functions, Heights and Distances.
  • Vectors and 3D Geometry: Vector Algebra, Scalar and Vector Products, Lines and Planes in space.
  • Matrices and Determinants: Algebra of Matrices, Inverse, Solution of System of Linear Equations.
  • Probability and Statistics: Basic Probability, Conditional Probability, Measures of Central Tendency and Dispersion.

Physics:

  • Units, Dimensions and Measurement; Errors in Measurement.
  • Kinematics, Laws of Motion, Work, Energy and Power.
  • Rotational Motion, Gravitation, Properties of Solids and Liquids.
  • Thermodynamics, Kinetic Theory of Gases, Oscillations and Waves.
  • Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Magnetic Effects of Current and Magnetism.
  • Electromagnetic Induction, Alternating Currents, Electromagnetic Waves.
  • Optics (Ray and Wave Optics), Dual Nature of Matter and Radiation.
  • Atoms and Nuclei, Semiconductor Electronics: Materials, Devices and Simple Circuits.

Chemistry:

  • Atomic Structure, Periodic Table, Chemical Bonding and Molecular Structure.
  • States of Matter, Solutions, Equilibrium (Chemical and Ionic).
  • Redox Reactions, Electrochemistry, Chemical Kinetics, Surface Chemistry.
  • Thermodynamics and Thermochemistry.
  • General Principles of Metallurgy, s-block and p-block Elements.
  • d- and f-block Elements, Coordination Compounds.
  • Organic Chemistry: Hydrocarbons, Haloalkanes, Alcohols, Aldehydes, Ketones, Carboxylic Acids, Amines.
  • Biomolecules, Polymers, Chemistry in Everyday Life, Environmental Chemistry.

Fundamentals of Electrical & Electronics Engineering:

  • Basic Electrical Quantities: Voltage, Current, Resistance, Power, Energy; Ohm’s Law and Kirchhoff’s Laws.
  • DC and AC Circuits, Series and Parallel Combinations.
  • Electrical Machines: Transformers, DC Machines, Induction Motors (basic working principles).
  • Semiconductor Devices: Diodes, Transistors (BJT, FET), Rectifiers, Amplifiers.
  • Digital Electronics: Number Systems, Logic Gates, Boolean Algebra.
  • Measuring Instruments: Voltmeter, Ammeter, Multimeter, CRO.

Paper II Syllabus (D.Pharm)

Paper II is meant for diploma holders in Pharmacy. The contents are based on the D.Pharm curriculum prescribed by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI). The major subject areas are:

  • Pharmaceutics: Dosage Forms, Routes of Administration, Pharmaceutical Calculations, Packaging.
  • Pharmaceutical Chemistry: Inorganic and Organic Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Drug Stability, Limit Tests.
  • Pharmacognosy: Crude Drugs, Classification, Cultivation, Collection and Processing of Drugs of Natural Origin.
  • Human Anatomy and Physiology: Structure and Functions of Major Body Systems.
  • Pharmacology and Toxicology: Drug Action, Major Drug Classes, Adverse Drug Reactions.
  • Health Education and Community Pharmacy: Public Health, Family Welfare, First Aid.
  • Biochemistry and Clinical Pathology: Basics of Carbohydrates, Lipids, Proteins, Enzymes; Common Laboratory Tests.
  • Pharmaceutical Jurisprudence: Drug Laws, Pharmacy Act, Pharmacy Practice Regulations.
  • Drug Store and Business Management; Hospital and Clinical Pharmacy.

Preparation Tips

  • Go through the complete Information Bulletin to understand every chapter and weightage.
  • Prepare a topic-wise study plan based on the marks distribution table.
  • Use NCERT and diploma-level textbooks as base references for Paper I; use D.Pharm course books for Paper II.
  • Solve previous year question papers to understand the type and level of questions.
  • Take regular mock tests to manage the 2-hour time limit and improve OMR accuracy.
  • Revise short-notes regularly in the last fortnight before the exam.

Where can I download the WB JELET Syllabus 2026?

The official syllabus is available in the Information Bulletin published by WBJEEB at wbjeeb.nic.in/jelet. Candidates can download the PDF free of cost and refer to it throughout their preparation.

How many papers are there in the exam?

There are two papers. Paper I is for Engineering / Technology / B.Sc. / D.Voc. / B.Voc. candidates and covers Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Fundamentals of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Paper II is for D.Pharm candidates and covers the PCI-prescribed D.Pharm curriculum.

What is the marking scheme?

In Category 1 questions, each correct answer fetches +1 mark and a wrong answer attracts -1/4 mark. In Category 2 questions, all correct options yield +2 marks with partial credit allowed and no negative marking.

What is the weightage of Mathematics in Paper I?

Mathematics carries the highest weightage in Paper I with 40 questions (30 in Category 1 and 10 in Category 2) totalling 50 marks out of 120.

Is the syllabus same as the previous year?

The board generally retains the same chapter list year-on-year, with only minor changes if any. Candidates are advised to refer to the latest Information Bulletin available on wbjeeb.nic.in/jelet for the authoritative chapter list.

Which books should I refer for Paper I preparation?

Candidates can use NCERT and standard diploma-level textbooks for Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. For Fundamentals of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, refer to standard polytechnic textbooks aligned with the West Bengal State Council of Technical Education curriculum.
