XAT 2027 (Xavier Aptitude Test) is the national MBA and PGDM entrance test that XLRI Jamshedpur conducts on behalf of XAMI. It will be held as a computer-based test on 3 January 2027, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM, in more than 100 cities. Registration is open till 6 December 2026, and XLRI and 250+ B-schools accept the scores.

How to Apply for XAT 2027
You apply for XAT 2027 online at applications.xatonline.in between 15 July and 6 December 2026. One registration covers both XAT and XLRI’s own programmes, so you pick XLRI programmes in the same form.
Apply Online for XAT 2027
Applications for XAT 2027 are open: 15 July to 6 December 2026.
- Sign up with your name, email ID and mobile number. Check them carefully, because they cannot be changed after registration.
- Verify your email ID through the link XLRI sends. Your login details then arrive by email.
- Log in and fill in your personal, academic and work experience details. Use Save and Next to save the form as you go.
- Select XLRI programmes if you want to study at XLRI, and choose 6 preferred test cities.
- Upload your photograph and signature in the given format.
- Preview the form, pay the fee online and submit. Print the application form and the e-receipt.

You can pay by debit card, credit card, net banking, IMPS, cash card or mobile wallet. If no e-receipt is generated, the payment has failed and you should log in and pay again. Outside the edit windows XLRI announces (the latest ran on 16 and 17 October 2026), details cannot be edited after you submit with payment; for an essential correction, raise a query through Any Query? Who can apply for XAT 2027?
You can take XAT 2027 if you hold a recognised bachelor’s degree of at least three years, or its equivalent, in any discipline.
- For XLRI’s Business Management (BM) and Human Resource Management (HRM) programmes, final-year students can apply if their final examinations are over by 11 June 2027. Those whose exams end later will not be admitted.
- All Indian candidates applying to XLRI through the XAT route must take XAT 2027. NRI, foreign, PIO and OCI candidates apply to XLRI through GMAT.
- Other institutes that accept XAT set their own eligibility rules, so check each institute’s admission page before you apply.
What is the XAT 2027 exam pattern?
XAT 2027 is a 180-minute computer-based test in English with 95 multiple-choice questions, each with five options, held in a single slot.

- Each correct answer gets 1 mark and each wrong answer loses 0.25 mark.
- You can leave 8 questions unanswered without penalty. Every unattempted question after that costs 0.10 mark.
- GK has no negative marking. It does not count in the overall percentile and is used only by XLRI in its final selection.
- Part 1 has no sectional time limit. You can start with any section and switch between them; after 170 minutes Part 1 locks and the GK part opens.
- A scientific calculator is available on screen. PwD candidates get 20 extra minutes per hour.

Which institutes accept XAT 2027 scores?
XLRI and more than 250 B-schools across India use XAT scores for MBA and PGDM admission.
- At XLRI, the score is used for the BM programme at Jamshedpur and Delhi-NCR, the HRM programme at Jamshedpur, and the other programmes listed in the XLRI Admission Prospectus 2027.
- XAMI member institutes include Loyola Institute of Business Administration (LIBA) Chennai, XIM University Bhubaneswar and XIME Bengaluru.
- New XAT associate institutes listed on xatonline.in include Mahindra University Hyderabad, Arun Jaitley National Institute of Financial Management Faridabad and Dayananda Sagar Business School Bangalore.
- Each institute runs its own application and selection process, and XLRI has no role in admissions elsewhere.
How does XLRI select students after XAT 2027?
XLRI shortlists candidates for BM and HRM interviews only on XAT scores. Final selection then looks at XAT performance, academic background, relevant work experience, the personal interview or group discussion, and extracurricular activities.
