How are marks split across CG PET subjects?
Each subject has 50 one-mark questions, so the three carry equal weight. This is the scheme of examination printed at the end of the official syllabus.

What topics come in CG PET Physics?
Physics has 18 units, from measurement to semiconductors. The main topics are:
- Measurement, kinematics, laws of motion, work, energy and power.
- Rotational motion and moment of inertia, gravitation, properties of solids and fluids.
- Heat and thermodynamics, oscillations and waves.
- Light: interference, reflection, refraction, lenses, optical instruments and the human eye.
- Magnetism, electrostatics, current electricity and the effects of electric current.
- Electromagnetic induction and alternating current.
- Electrons, photons and radioactivity; semiconductors, diodes, transistors and logic gates.
What topics come in CG PET Chemistry?
Chemistry has 23 units in three parts: physical (units 1 to 11), inorganic (12 to 17) and organic (18 to 23).
- Physical: atomic structure, chemical bonding, solutions, solid state, nuclear chemistry, chemical and ionic equilibrium, thermodynamics, kinetics, electrochemistry and surface chemistry.
- Inorganic: metallurgy, periodicity, families of elements, transition metals, coordination compounds and qualitative analysis.
- Organic: hydrocarbons, nitrogen and oxygen compounds, chemistry in daily life (polymers, dyes, drugs) and biomolecules.
What topics come in CG PET Mathematics?
Mathematics has 11 units, and the last one covers basics of computers.
- Algebra: complex numbers, progressions, quadratic equations, permutations and combinations, binomial theorem, determinants and matrices.
- Trigonometry, including heights and distances.
- Coordinate geometry in two and three dimensions, and vector algebra.
- Differential calculus, integral calculus and differential equations.
- Statistics and probability, and numerical methods (bisection, Newton-Raphson, trapezoidal and Simpson’s rule).
- Information technology: parts of a computer, input and output devices, storage, and system and application software.

How should I prepare for the CG PET syllabus?
Start with NCERT and CGBSE Class 11 and 12 Physics, Chemistry and Maths books, since the units follow the same chapters. Do not skip the information technology and numerical methods units in Maths; they are short and easy to score.
