Merit list preparation
IIT shall prepare merit list for each test paper in JAM 2018 and also an All India Rank (AIR) containing names of all the qualified candidates based on their performance in the test paper. The number of candidates included in the All India Merit List depends on the total number of seats available in each category in a given subject.
Tie-Breaking– The tie-breaking criterion for awarding the ranks to candidates scoring the same aggregate marks in a test paper has been as follows:
(i) The candidate with a higher ratio of positive marks to negative marks has been given a higher rank.
01st merit list publishing
The first list will be published in the 04th week of May 2018. This list will consist the range of candidates who are called to complete the admission formalities through a counselling process. For each course and college, there will be a opening and closing rank. Candidates falling under this range only must appear for the counselling in 04th week of May 2018. The seats will be offered depending on the candidate’s rank. Candidate who successfully obtains a seat have to report the allotted centre as per the schedule mentioned on the official website. You may have to submit the original documents to confirm the seat. Those who do not get seat offered can wait for the second list.
02nd merit list publishing
Candidates who do not get a seat do not need to loose hope. It is possible that these candidates will be included in the second merit list. The next merit list is expected to be out in the 02nd week of June 2018. Again the procedure will be the same. Candidates will have to look for the revised status of the seats on the official website. Then you shall report for the counselling and perform the admission procedure.
Final Admission List
The final admission list will be out in the 04th week of June 2018. After this there will be no list publishing. This final calling is to fill the leftover seats if so any. Status of the seats will be revised and put on the website. Candidates called for counselling will carry the necessary documents to the designated centre.
