The IIT JAM 2027 syllabus is published by IIT Kharagpur in Annexure I of the JAM 2027 information brochure. Each of the seven test papers has its own syllabus at undergraduate science level, and every paper follows the same 60-question, 100-mark pattern in the 14 February 2027 exam.

In the MS paper, Mathematics (Sections 1 to 3) carries about 25% of the weight and Statistics (Sections 4 to 12) about 75%. The BT paper is not only biology: it also tests chemistry, mathematics and physics.
What is the IIT JAM 2027 exam pattern and marking scheme?
Every JAM 2027 paper has 60 questions for 100 marks in 3 hours, in three compulsory sections. Questions appear in random order on screen.

How should you prepare for IIT JAM 2027?
- Map the syllabus of your paper to your B.Sc. textbooks first, and mark the sections you have not studied in college.
- Solve the JAM previous year question papers; past keys show which topics come up often in MCQ, MSQ and NAT form.
- Practise with the official mock test that will be linked on the JAM 2027 website, so the screen layout and virtual calculator feel familiar.
- Be careful in Section A, where wrong answers cost marks. Sections B and C have no negative marking, so attempt them fully.
- If you take two papers, make sure one is a forenoon paper (CY, GG, MA) and the other an afternoon paper (BT, EN, MS, PH).
